- His full name is Jugo Kushinada (櫛稲田ジュウゴ).
- His last name, Kushinada, may be a reference to Kushinadahime, a goddess of rice and the wife of the Shinto god Susanoo, who rescued her from the monster Yamata-no-Orochi and made her a deity.
- Yamata-no-Orochi is an eight-headed dragon to whom daughters were sacrificed from the myth of Susanoo.
- He is cursed to be the sacrifice for Yamata-no-Orochi which manifests itself as various purple eyes that appear on his clothes and will sometimes form physical serpentine heads, all of which have distinct designs.
- In his Charge Skill line and Valentine Special Quest, he also refers to the snake as Mizuchi, a Japanese aquatic serpent or water spirit.
- Jugo's summoner mark is located on his left breast, which has the appearance of eight lines forming an intricate vortex.
