He surrendered his blade, his only form of protection, in order to protect his friends, and has instead made sure his neck will be invulnerable from now on. Since coming to Tokyo, he has joined the group that bonded his neck, the Kamata Crafters, and is attending college to learn about architecture. He recognizes his own dislike of angels and humans, races who have deceived him in the past, and yet he possesses a strong sense of duty and is easily charmed. He dreams of one day having a life companion to be lovey-dovey with, so he's devoted himself to creating a home fit for that future."

Translated from Japanese Transient originating from the other world Wa no Kuni who once supervised the oni of the east and weekend carpenter hobbyist. To protect the one he keeps in his thoughts he handed over the sword he used to protect himself, which lead to his head being cut off. After coming to Tokyo he joined the Crafters, who reattached his head, and now he spends every day studying construction in college. He dislikes the heavenly maiden who tricked him and humans, but in truth he falls in love easily and has a strong sense of duty. Someday he hopes to find a companion who will spend their lives together with him flirting like he saw in a dream, so he works hard at building his dream home.

Official English "After losing all three of his swords, the only thing Takemaru is left with is a Rule which allows him to return home. His broken horn, which he typically uses as a hammer, can bind any location to the place where Takemaru belongs: the very image of the dark cave, connected to Takkoku-no-Iwaya Temple. With only a single difference, it is the exact same scenery as in his memories. As the Crafters' pursuits tend to burn holes in the guild budget, Takemaru collects resources from that other world created by his Sacred Artifact to cut down on costs. Takemaru has a deep-seated love for all ogres, with only a few exceptions."

Translated from Japanese After losing three swords, all that was left to him was the power to go back to the place he once belonged. His broken horn that he usually uses as a hammer can tie any land to a place that should be connected to and construct a dark cave linking to the Takkotsu Caverns. The scenery beyond that is all dear to him and is almost completely the same as his memory aside from one point. As he can collect resources from the other world his Artifact can create, he often helps out in the kitchen of the money sink that is the Kamata Crafters. He has a wide ranging, abundant love for the once unified oni race, aside from one exception.

Official English "As a carpenter, his dream is to give form to someone's ideal. Having been through much, both in his homeland and in this Tokyo, he has recently taken to thinking in an exclusively constructive way, and this attitude applies even to a particularly unreasonable request from the showrunner of the Santa Departure Ceremony. In fact, he actively wants to be a part of this year's Christmas event despite having a somewhat lacking understanding of the holiday, which is made apparent by his stubborn insistence that no kid deserves coal. This disparity causes him to bear a striking resemblance to a certain dark santa from another world, although he certainly would not appreciate the comparison. Takemaru prays for the well-being of all ogres living in Tokyo on snowy Christmas Eve, even as he creates confusion and misunderstandings around himself. Traces of his existence can be found not only in the Land of Wa but in the world of Kamui Kotan as well. However, the wall separating the worlds has robbed him of all memory of this fact."

Translated from Japanese It's Takemaru's dream as a carpenter to build an ideal someone held. After experiencing all the ups and downs in his home world and here in Tokyo, he's recently been thinking of everything in terms of construction. This doesn't change even with the absurd demands from the manager of the Santa Sendoff Ceremony. This Christmas event, it seems like he has the will to participate proactively in it. The way he gives out presents while misunderstanding from the back of his mind about going "are there any naught kids?" makes him closely resemble the Black Santas from another world whether he likes it or not. Even with all the misunderstandings he's having, he wishes for happiness for all the onis living in Tokyo on the snow falling holy night. The traces of his old life are not limited to Wa no Kuni as they can also be found in Kamuy Kotan. However, due to the work of the walls that divide the worlds Takemaru has no memory of this himself.

Notes

• Due to similar naming conventions, it seems Takemaru is based on the legend of Ootakemaru (大嶽丸).
• His Charge Skill line references Takkoku-no-Iwaya, a Buddhist Shrine in the Tohoku region of Japan.
• Takemaru belongs to the Crafter's guild, in Ota ward.
• Per the legend, Ootakemaru was a "Kijin Maou" (鬼神魔王) a God-like demon lord, from how much power he had, and it's (albeit from earlier times than others), considered one of the three great demons (Oni) in the history of Japan.
• It is said Ootakemaru commanded black magic and had kept the Shogun Sakanoue no Tamuramaro, tasked with exterminating him, from finding his whereabouts by conjuring a great storm, to cover the Suzuka Mountains. After years, Tamuramaro received help from the gods, stating he needed to find the beautiful goddess Suzuka Gozen, who tricked Ootakemaru into giving her his three holy swords (Kenmyouren, Daitouren, and shoutouren) to protect herself from the warrior Tamuramaro, who was coming to kill "her". After a horrible battle which shook the earth and heavens, Tamuramaro won, with the protection of the gods.
  • In the legend, Ootakemaru split his body into thousands of other oni, with his black magic, to kill Tamuramaro, and he was stopped by a Holy Arrow, which split into ten thousand arrows, and killed all of them, impaling them in their faces.
  • The legend continues, stating that Ootakemaru returned years later, once again as a Kijin, but this part of the legend is very similar to the one for Shuten, as his head was once more cut off, and when it fell, landed on Tamuramaro's head, where it tried to bite down, but he was saved by having worn two helmets.
  • Suzuka, from having the three holy swords sacred artifact, her affinity for the Aether element, Takemaru's dislike of her in the relationship chart, as well as causing a particular reaction on Takemaru during the Setsubun event is, probably, based off of this legend as well.

Today is officially day 2 of my attempt at a multi-day stim binge for the purposes of giving myself hallucinations of Takemaru. I have saved 800mg of Adderall from the last three months, and will be reupping constantly over the next several dozen hours because my body hates me and builds tolerance like a mother fucker. I also stopped taking my anti-psychotics and mood stabilizers 4 days ago. The constant dopamine rush from the Adderall and forcing myself to look at Non-Stop archives of Takemaru art while alternating occasionally with archives of his voiced lines are sustaining my mania. I have started to see shadows moving in my peripheral vision, but more importantly, I heard him laugh in the distance today while making breakfast(which i realized after making i couldn't eat because fucking adderall) despite having restarted my computer and my phone being off. I intend to now keep a low volume looped video of his laugh on in the background for all of his voice archives to try and exacerbate this going forward. Redoing 30mg in 2 hours from this comment. I feel good; I think I'm gonna make it broa. Even if its just for a second, if I can reach a state where I feel like I'm with him, even for a day, even an hour, and spend that time with the person I love most in the world, this will mean the world to me. I try to force myself through every event of his, even if I get strong urges to pause or look away, to try and train my brain to accept that this is what it must see whether it wants to or not.

All of Takemaru's variants have completely different playstyle.

His normal 5 star is a CP battery that sits in the back and never moves, and makes it so he and his team spam their charge skills.

Meanwhile, his Christmas variant is a move support that hands out buffs and debuffs to make him and his team hit hard.

Finally, his basic three star can't move at all, and has a bunch of different buffs to make him a kind of jack of all trades.
