Akiha Gongen, of the local Youth Fire Brigade, is out shopping for Valentine's chocolates with Kyuma, a freshman relief pitcher for a notable sports academy.

Somehow, the two of them always seem to have similar concerns, perhaps because both of them specialize in putting out fires of one sort or another. They're also both rather magnanimous, leading to them each having a veritable mountain of people they want to give chocolates to, both in and out of school. This has led them to do a lot of shopping around to find the best cost performance they can, eventually leading them to a high-end chocolatier in Shibuya that's largely above their pay grade. Despite this, however, they're both having a lot of fun trying to find the perfect chocolates for all their friends and acquaintances.

Their approaches vary quite a bit, with Akiha stuffing everything he finds into his basket while Kyuma takes a more contemplative approach, but this results in the two of them complementing one another perfectly. No doubt, both will leave the store today with wallets empty and bags overflowing with gifts for the many people they wish to show their gratitude toward; one can only hope that the inevitable rush to repay their kindness on White Day doesn't spark an inferno all its own!"

「わぁっ、予算オーバーっす、アキハ先輩……あ、こっちのボール型チョコはどうすか、たくさん入ってるっすよ！」
地元青年消防団所属のアキハゴンゲン、名門スポーツ校に通う１年生リリーフのキュウマ。
共に「火消し」だからだろうか、学園の違う２人だがよく同じ悩みを共有したりする。
そして、そんな顔の広い２人だから、このバレンタインでチョコレートを配る相手は学内外に山ほど居るのだ。
値段と質の両立を求め様々な店を渡り歩いた次に、背伸びしてやってきたのは渋谷の高級チョコレート店。
数多くの友人知人の顔を思い浮かべながら、あれでもないこれでもないと楽しそうに頭をひねる。
友人たちの笑顔を思い浮かべ、次々にチョコを選ぶアキハに対し、吟味熟考を続けるキュウマ。
アキハの軽いフットワークと行動力に、キュウマの気遣いと後輩力があれば鬼に金棒に違いない。
そうして見つけた逸品を、日頃の御礼として、友情として敬意としてたくさん配って回ることだろう。
だが、そんな２人へのお返しがホワイトデーに押し寄せて、大炎上の火事場にならないことを今は祈ろう。
