"Using the Rule of Folding contained within the Short Sword Sacred Artifact he carries at his hip, he can control the concept of distance. This allows him to convert the length of his sword from 6.5 inches to 6.5 feet and back. He can even jump into close range with an opponent as if he had warped through dimensions. On top of that, his knowledge in tactics allows him to create formations that make it difficult for enemies to attack while allies have the advantage. His history causes him to be vulnerable to women who have lost their beloved, exposing his raw emotions."

The tanto he carries is a Sacred Artifact with the power of shukuchi, which is the power to manipulate the concept of distance. Usage of that power can change his blade length from about 27cm to about 1.95m, making it possible for it to seem as though it just jumps right into his enemy's chest. Additionally, with his tactical knowledge he can avoid attacks from opponents, take positions where his allies' attacks will strike, and construct battle formations advantageous to his team. Due to past experiences he is weak against women who have lost their lovers, which will end up laying his feelings bare.

He is based on Kiichi Hogen, a legendary Japanese warrior monk who is sometimes said to be a tengu of Mount Kurama.
- Kiichi Hogen served as the mentor of Minamoto no Yoshitsune - which is why he refers to Protagonist as "my lord".
His second Research File alludes to his weakness to "women who have lost their beloved" is likely a reference to Kiichi Hogen's daughter Minatsuruhime, who was in love with Yoshitsune but later betrayed by him.
