Official English "A stubborn and solemn judo team member at an all boys high school in Tokyo. Due to certain circumstances, he was offered as a sacrifice to the Transient Yamata no Orochi. Its curse binds his body, causing everything he wears to turn into something resembling the serpent. Upon hearing about the Rule of Rending that could free him from the curse, he threw his hat into the battle ring."

Translated from Japanese Juugo is a serious, steadfast Judo practitioner and club member attending a boy's school in Tokyo. A victim of the circumstances of his birth, he has been dedicated as a sacrifice to the serpent Yamata-no-Orochi, and is branded by a powerful curse. Orochi manifests itself in the clothing he wears, awaiting its chance to strike, when Juugo lowers his guard.

Official English "He belongs to a long line of spiritual talent...in regards to acting as sacrifices. As a countermeasure, he was taught martial arts by his parents. He normally suppresses the effects of the curse on him through his powerfully trained physique and mental prowess but whenever his emotions run wild, the curse goes out of control, causing the Yamata No Orochi to materialize by devouring his spirit. He is sympathetic toward anyone suffering a similar curse."

Translated from Japanese Juugo was born to a bloodline with strong spiritual power, which makes them ideal sacrifices to Orochi. By honing his mind and body through martial arts, Juugo has managed to suppress Orochi's curse, but he must maintain constant vigilance and composure, as when his emotions run too high Yamata-no-Orochi begins eating his spiritual energy and manifesting a physical form. He feels compassion for fellow cursed souls.

Thus, with no divine assistance, he fights back with nothing but his own strength, leaving him with neither the time nor energy for anything else. This summer, however, a heart-quaking encounter pulls him out of his shell, thrusting him into an adventure the likes of which he had never imagined. While Jugo feels a hint of rivalry towards the fellow martial artist he meets along the way, there is also a strange sense of camaraderie."

Translated from Japanese Jugo is devoted to the path of gentleness with simple honesty to the point that other people have called him stubborn. The reason he continues running down that path is his desire for the power to rebel against the fate spun for him. Here in Tokyo Jugo does not have a weapon for fighting, or in other words a Sacred Artifact. The role he was given does not consider rebellion a good thing. He carries the blood of those who were once given to the Orochi as sacrifices, and he resists with only his own strength. He doesn't have the time to look around him. But this summer will tie him straight on to an unthinkable adventure through an encounter that will rock him to his core. He has a strange sense of solidarity beneath the rivalry he feels for the seeker of truth he meets there.

• His full name is Jugo Kushinada (櫛稲田ジュウゴ).
  • His last name, Kushinada, may be a reference to Kushinadahime, a goddess of rice and the wife of the Shinto god Susanoo, who rescued her from the monster Yamata-no-Orochi and made her a deity.
  • Yamata-no-Orochi is an eight-headed dragon to whom daughters were sacrificed from the myth of Susanoo.
• He is cursed to be the sacrifice for Yamata-no-Orochi which manifests itself as various purple eyes that appear on his clothes and will sometimes form physical serpentine heads, all of which have distinct designs.
• In his Charge Skill line and Valentine Special Quest, he also refers to the snake as Mizuchi, a Japanese aquatic serpent or water spirit.
• Jugo's summoner mark is located on his left breast, which has the appearance of eight lines forming an intricate vortex.
• On the release of the Summer River Adventure event, Jugos's previous voice actor, Josuke Shinomiya, was replaced by Kazuhisa Nakayama. Upon the change, his original and voice lines were replaced with Nakayama's takes.
• His Summer unit art features Japanese fawn lilies. In flower language, they symbolize first love and lasting loneliness.
• Jugo, despite being generally overlooked in the rest of the game, shares a loading screen with Arsalan, with the latter flipping poor Jugo (and Orochi) stating "Your training is lacking." (修行が足らん.)

He's really usefull whenever he's in a narrow battle area and gives out countdown to enemies after he moves. I still have a lot more to experiment with him but his kit is really fun to use!

I've pulled this guy's 3-star three or four times now and I've also got his 4-star. One of the first characters I ever pulled in the game and I still don't know who tf he is as well as don't use him :)

Considering that he is heavily connected to Susanoo, him appearing might spells trouble for Amaterasu in the future and spoils a lot of story (Like Kyuma and David with Mr.Mononobe).

Really want him to be more important. Him being cursed by Orochi is very interesting. Hope he appears in later chapters
