Translated from Japanese A Summon proud of his claw Sacred Artifact, pitch black fur, long horns and scary face. He is training daily at Tokyo's Santa School in order to become a full-fledged Black Santa. At work he plays the scoundrel that terrifies the naughty kids, but when not acting he goes back to being a timid and docile young man. He is secretly worried he'll be lonely in the future, for this reason he's easily moved when offered affection. He dislikes when naughty kids harm others for their selfish desires.

Official English "Hailing from a long line of attendants to saints, Krampus uses as his Sacred Artifacts a pair of Claws that have been passed down for generations. His mission is to punish and instill fear of himself into the hearts of naughty children. One swipe from his Claws will make any child repent their evil ways, swearing to be good so as to never meet him again. On nights with no moonlight, Krampus appears with the fading echo of a bell, making even the nicest of children quake with fear. Consequently, he feels constant anguish at being trapped in such a detested role."

Translated from Japanese He is the son of a family that serves the Saint, for generations they have inherited a pair of large claw-like weapons Sacred Artifact. His mission is to punish naughty kids who don't deserve blessings by instilling them with terror. Those scratched by him generally reflect on their bad actions and pledge to become good kids to never meet him again. He appears in moonless evenings, announced by his worn-out bells, even those who aren't naughty kids become scared. He suffers because of this, as he is condemned to be hated.

Official English "As part of the Santa School's annual Wishlist Reconnaissance assignment, Krampus found himself dragged along to a Halloween event by a classmate; however, he felt uncomfortable about going, as he had never been at ease around large crowds. After hearing rumors (deliberately spread by the organizational committee) that it would be best to attend after dark, he ducked into a clothing rental shop on the way to the event in search of a costume fitting the theme. What he happened upon was the attire of Yama, whom a certain religion viewed as lord of Hell and judge of the sinful. Perhaps it was chance that guided his hand, or perhaps the similarities in their roles resonated with him: both are the objects of fear and animosity, both enforce adherence to a strict moral code, and both are pariahs among their peers. However, unbeknownst to Krampus, another religion ascribes to Yama quite a different side..."

Translated from Japanese In the Santa School there is a year long subject involving "surverying what would make children happy." Through that Krampus has been invited by his kouhai to a Halloween event, where his complete discomfort with crowds has thoroughly embarrassed him. To follow with the rumor publicized by the executive committee that "night time is the best time to party," Krampus picked up a King Yama costume from a rental shop on the spur of the moment on the way over. According to certain beliefs, it's the clothes of a great king who judges criminals in hell. The reason he may have unintentionally picked it is perhaps because he feels that role may expand to himself. As an avatar of the type of fear that makes one not want to see him ever again and someone who corrects people who have been charged a certain way, he harbors the loneliness of the avoided. But that way of living can have another side to it if seen from a different view and different belief. He still doesn't know.

Official Japanese サンタスクールの年間の課題である「子どもが喜ぶものの調査」。その一環として、後輩の誘いでハロウィン・イベントへと連れ出されてきたものの、人混みが得意でないクランプスはただただ困惑するばかり。実行委員が吹聴する「夜が一番盛り上がる」という噂に合わせ、現地に向かう道すがらの貸し衣装屋で彼がとっさに手にしたのは「閻魔大王」の衣装だった。ある信仰において、地獄にて罪人を裁くとされる大王の衣装。それを意図せず選んでしまったのは、その「役割」が自分に負わされているものに通じるところがあった故の縁だろうか。「二度と遭いたくもない」と思われるほどの恐怖の権化として「ある定められた人道」を正すものとして彼が抱く、避けられる者としての孤独。だがその在り方は、また別の信仰、別の視点から見れば異なる側面を持つ。彼はまだ、それを知らない。

Notes

• Krampus is based on the mythical creature of same name in many European myths. Often described as a horned anthropomorphic figure who, during the Christmas season, punishes children that misbehave. This contrasts with St. Nicholas or Santa Claus who reward well-behaved children.
  • Krampus' summon day of December fifth (12/5) coincides with Krampusnacht, or Krampus Night, on the preceding evening of the fifth of December, where Krampus is said to roam around. Proceeding it is the Feast of St. Nicholas that occurs on December sixth (12/6), which is Ded's summon day.
• His Charge Skill is a reference to the Wild Man (or Wilde Mann in German), a mythical figure that's both human and beast-like, and lives in the woods or away from civilization.
  • "Toll of the Wildebell" and "Bells of Certain Punishment" are in reference to the bells that are rung to announce the arrival of the Christmas season and the season when Krampus is active.
• Krampus' Halloween variant is a reference to Yama from East Asian and Buddhist mythology (or Enma in Japanese), a god that judges the dead and dispenses punishment deemed unworthy.
  • His pseudonym in the event is Kris Enma, which is a fusion of the name of the aforementioned Enma and Kris Kringle, an alternate name for Santa Claus and also an Americanized pronunciation and spelling of Christkindl).
