"""There's no school today, Jambavan! Let us be off and see what wonders the world holds! You may take the lead of this leash of mine, but forget not that none can hold the reins of my soul!""
""Come on, Fenrir! I've been up all night... At least let me get a bit more sleep.""

Fenrir and Jambavan, buddies in the Ueno Beast Tamers, live together in the ward's academy dorm. The aforementioned scene is a common one—Jambavan will work sleepless night after sleepless night in the lab before finally making it to the sanctuary of his bed... only to be shaken awake by Fenrir, who is far too eager to go for a walk and show off his new silver accessories. These two are a match made in heaven: a beast that cannot be tamed and the tamer who can. Fenrir is fated to gobble up the world, and Jambavan is fated to stop its destruction. Though his powers grant him the rare ability to control Fenrir, Jambavan finds himself being proverbially walked by the dog whenever he takes the former's lead. One may think this speaks to a fundamental failure in their pairing, but this is not the case. The essence of Jambavan's Rule and Role dictates that he cannot use his powers on a weakened opponent. He is, thus, forced to be weaker than Fenrir, who is bound by a Sacred Artifact Rope and cannot use his powers. The pair's true power will only be revealed when Fenrir has released his restraints—an ace they hold for when the world faces true danger."
Translated from Japanese
"It's a holiday, and we're going out, Jambavan! Take the strap of this collar, but don't forget that I will not let you take the reins of my soul!"

"Eeh, I was up all night, Fenrir-senpai. Please let me sleep a little longer……!"

Fenrir and Jambavan live together in the dormitory of Ueno Academy. The two have a buddy system where they work together in the Beast Tamers Guild. This is what their usual life is like. After a long day of all-night research, he finally came back to his room and asked his junior colleague, who was asleep on the futon, to accompany him on a walk, saying he was going to show off his newly acquired silver accessory. The combination of a beast that cannot be controlled by others and a tamer who can control the beast. Fenrir is the Beast that is destined to swallow the world, and Jambavan, the one who stops the world's destruction, has been assigned to play the role of the Tamer. But as expected, the one who holds the reins tends to get pulled around by the one being held every time. Is this a failure of pairing? No, it's not. The root of the above reason is that Jambavan's "Role" and "Rule" are such that he "cannot wield power against a weakened opponent." Jambavan is forced to be even weaker than Fenrir, who can't wield his power with the ropes of his "Sacred Artifact." The true value of this pair will be revealed when Fenrir's restraints are released. That's when the world will face a real crisis.
