His Sacred Artifact, a swarm of Nanomachines contained within his body, allows him to alter himself at will to adapt to any environment. When he first awoke in Shinjuku Central Park, he found that while he retained the knowledge and superb tactical capabilities of a professional soldier, he had lost all memory of the past aside from his own name. However, after coming into contact with the Summoners, he soon found himself embroiled in the struggle against the Warmongers. While his memory remains lost, he feels an inexplicable animosity toward a certain moon-eating wolf from the world of Yggdrasil."

- Based on a combination of Andrew Blake - the protagonist of the novel by Clifford D. Simak, The Werewolf Principle and Freki (Freke) - one of the two wolves that accompany the god Odin in Norse mythology. In Japanese's katakana, the name フレキ (Freke) resembles the name ブレイク (Blake) and official English translation chose Breke to express this connection.
- In the novel, Blake is an amnesic man who has been heavily altered, and has the ability to shapeshift. He also has to share his body and mind with two other beings, a wolf-like alien and a cybernetic consciousness.
- There are theories that the concept of the Human, the Wolf and the Brain is based on the relationship between Odin and his familiars, the wolves Geri & Freki and the ravens Huginn & Muninn.
- The name "Freki" is also applied to Fenrir in Norse mythology.
- At the end of the novel it's revealed that the protagonist is only an artificial consciousness contructed from the memories of the deceased human Blake. Breke retains this natural in the way that while Freke, Huginn and Muninn from Yggdrasil were used to create him, they are no longer alive and he's considered a separated person.
