Official English "The Great Creator, Tangaroa, created an island world out of his own body, drawing from his own flesh and blood to bring life to its soil, foliage, and even the surrounding sky. Slightly overprotective, he longs for the happiness of all living creatures on his island, guiding them as a father and welcoming even visitors as his own children. Though the creation of his island used up most of his original flesh, he retains form as a Staff, a Sacred Artifact comprised of his few remaining bones. Only a chosen warrior of the island tribe may possess the Staff, which imbues its wielder with Tangaroa's memories, designating the wielder an incarnation of the Great Creator, and thus, leader of the tribe."

Translated from Japanese He is the creator of everything in the island, the open skies, the earth and the flora and fauna, the god of this alternate world. Those living on his isolated island view him as a father that brings happiness. He is somewhat overprotective. Those who visit his island and are grateful are treated as his own children, and are welcome to stay. After he created the island, he lost his entire body leaving only some bones, and made with them the staff that acts as his Hallowed Artifact. Only those tribesmen warriors strong enough can be chosen as the successor of the bone staff. That warrior will inherit Tangaroa’s memories and spirit, and thus unite and lead the tribe.

Translated from Japanese He created the skies with one of the seashells that he owned, while another served as the earth, thus being the origin of this world. The island was sealed off from the outside thanks to both smooth but sturdy seashells, never allowing intruders inside, but also rejecting any fellowship with the outside world, making this a perfectly closed off island. Therefore those living on this solitary island don’t know about the existence of the outside world or the threat of foreign intruders, and have always led a peaceful life, following Tangaroa’s guidance in communion with nature. Only an octopus would be able to breach through the protective shell with its tentacles, tainting the purity of the island. He hates octopi and feels no sympathy for them.

Personality

Tangaroa is a very serious person. Having created the world of Lumia Kanaloa and all its inhabitants, he's fashioned himself as that world's protector and provider. He desires peace among all other things, and as such has made a world of abundance, where those he's deemed his children can live without want for anything. In this he can be seen as overprotective to fault, so much so that when Dagon entered his world and began corrupting it, his people stood little chance against the onslaught, falling quickly to the god and his followers. In this, Tangaroa has since made the decision to let the person who he is currently possessing live his own life as more than just a father to his people, in order to allow his people to learn for themselves while also reacquainting himself with the joys and pleasures of living as more than just a figurehead.

Tangaroa is insanely good, and his Canaan version is even better. The fact that he needs to get hit to heal his team is a bit of a downside, but it really fits his character flavorwise and since it spreads ALL of his buffs it's way more than worth it.

I use Canaan Tangaroa, 3 star Triton and 5 star Heracles when I run the max level underground labyrinth. Tangaroa with Triton directly behind him is literally immortal. Meanwhile, Heracles just wrecks everything without requiring you to move or support him at all(in fact he gets crippled and becomes useless if you move him directly. Gotta Tangaroa to position him) and it leaves you room for two more mentors and then a low level unit to feed all the exp to. It can be slow, but it's a guaranteed victory so long as you don't let Heracles get pulled up to the front row and one shot by some Aether Deity or something.

Tangaroa's only downsides are that his regular 3 and 5 star have no self healing, which makes him surprisingly fragile, while his Canaan version trades out his crits for shitloads of self healing.

10/10 best dad
