Notes

• His Role is "Mountain Ascetic" and his Rule is "Traveling on Foot."
• Gongen are the protectors or essences of a particular place in Japan. Zao Gongen is the protective deity of Mount Zaō, one of the peaks used extensively by Shugendō practitioners for pilgrimage and other ascetic practices.
  • Zao is usually portrayed as a violent deity, one foot raised to stamp down evil.
  • En no Gyōja, founder of Shugendō, adopted Zao Gongen as his patron for aiding in the battle against evil. As such, many pilgrims participate in rituals carried out in his main temple, Kinbusen-ji, with the intent of driving out evil.
• In September 2024, Zao's previous voice actor, Daisuke Toyama, was replaced by Shun Imaga. Upon the change, his original and variant and AR voice lines were replaced with Imaga's takes.

I absolutely love the fact that MC and Zao have like a love hate relationship thing going on Zao's always calling em a brat and MC like never does what they're told and has been shown to be just as mean right back at em and MC even pranks Zao in Chernobogs lil extra love scenario or whatever after his play on Halloween AND when MC complements them r smthng Zao's shOOK and is like " wow I don't hear you say things like that very often " and Zao even makes snarky comments about MC like all the time and something else I LOVE is that in the og quest when MC and Zao first meet when them and Kamui are off to like fight Chernobog r whatever they just like LEAVE HIM Kamui: Is it a good idea to be leaving him like that , he could be eaten by wyverns

This guy is 6 feet and 7 inches tall and weighs 380 pounds. His bones must be solid rock. His MUSCLES are probably solid rock. He's practically a mountain himself.
