His Sacred Artifact, a swarm of Nanomachines contained within his body, allows him to alter himself at will to adapt to any environment. When he first awoke in Shinjuku Central Park, he found that while he retained the knowledge and superb tactical capabilities of a professional soldier, he had lost all memory of the past aside from his own name. However, after coming into contact with the Summoners, he soon found himself embroiled in the struggle against the Warmongers. While his memory remains lost, he feels an inexplicable animosity toward a certain moon-eating wolf from the world of Yggdrasil."

Translated from Japanese A Transient who looks like he was made by the technology of Utopia based on his ecology. He is a machine type artificial life form able to change at will by adapting to his environment and rearranging his nanomachine Sacred Artifact. When he awoke in this Tokyo, he lost all his memories of his past save for what seems to be his name. However he possesses knowledge as a professional soldier and transcendental tactical ability, so he has been dragged into the battle between the guilds of warmongers and politicians. Despite not having any memories, for some reason he is unable to hide his hostility towards the moon devouring wolf from Yggdrasil.

Official English "Breke's true nature is a System created to devour entities from other worlds, absorb them, and artificially reproduce their Rules. His name and appearance are drawn from the memories of Freke, the ravenous wolf of Yggdrasil, whom he assimilated at some point in the past; the moniker Breke is actually short for B-type Freke. Thanks to absorbing Huginn and Muninn, the ravens twinned with Odin's wolves who preside over thought and memory, he also possesses astonishing mental processing power. That many of his abilities bear a striking similarity to someone else is no coincidence: the designation B-type comes from one of his creators, a notorious genius with two Bs to their name."

Translated from Japanese The true meaning behind his name is "B-Type Freke." Indeed, this artificial life form's name and appearance originate from the memories of the captured wolf from Yggdrasil, "the ravenous one." He is a machine created to greedily take in information from other worlds and make false recreations of them with his Rule. Additionally, he also has the memories of the raven that rules over thoughts and memories and stands opposite of that wolf, and so possesses wondrous analytical abilities. Break sports many features, but his extreme resemblance to a certain person is no coincidence. The B in his name comes from the genius whose full name has two Bs involved with his creation.

Notes

• Based on a combination of Andrew Blake - the protagonist of the novel by Clifford D. Simak, The Werewolf Principle and Freki (Freke) - one of the two wolves that accompany the god Odin in Norse mythology. In Japanese's katakana, the name フレキ (Freke) resembles the name ブレイク (Blake) and official English translation chose Breke to express this connection.
  • In the novel, Blake is an amnesic man who has been heavily altered, and has the ability to shapeshift. He also has to share his body and mind with two other beings, a wolf-like alien and a cybernetic consciousness.
  • There are theories that the concept of the Human, the Wolf and the Brain is based on the relationship between Odin and his familiars, the wolves Geri & Freki and the ravens Huginn & Muninn.
  • The name "Freki" is also applied to Fenrir in Norse mythology.
  • At the end of the novel it's revealed that the protagonist is only an artificial consciousness contructed from the memories of the deceased human Blake. Breke retains this natural in the way that while Freke, Huginn and Muninn from Yggdrasil were used to create him, they are no longer alive and he's considered a separated person.
• May be inspired in part by Solid Snake of the Metal Gear series, given his nanomachine-based Sacred Artifact and background as a professional solider.
