Official English "A genius System engineer who hails from the world of Olympus, but is now affiliated with the Crafters and attends university in Kamata. Although born to the bloodline that produces World Representatives, his peers refused to count him among their number and expelled him from Olympus while he was still an infant. He refers to the woman who raised him in their place as his Mama, and venerates her and those who bear her likeness to the point of zealotry. Out of shame at his appearance, he has meticulously created a robotic version of his ideal self, whom he calls Talos. Hephaestus himself feels deep sympathy for those who were abandoned at a young age, and feels compelled to help ease their pain just as they ease his. By contrast, Talos is drawn to those who, much like himself, were created so that they might be loved by others."

Translated from Japanese Transient from the world of Olympus and a genius systems engineer. He is a graduate student affiliated with the artisan's guild the Kamata Crafters. In his home world he was born to and immediately abandoned by a family that evacuated the World Representative, never accepted as one of them. Whenever he sees anyone who reminds him of the parental figure who raised him instead, he refers to them as mother and sees them as his absolute sanctuary. He has a deep complex about his appearance, so he is making a robot called Talos that is an idealization of himself down to the smallest details. Hephaestus has the deepest sympathies for anyone abandoned while very young, unable to stop himself from offering mutual comfort. On the other hand, his robot sympathizes with those like itself as someone who was created to be loved.

Official Japanese 異世界オリュンポス生まれの、天才システム工学者「転光生」。技術者たちのギルド・蒲田クラフターズに所属する大学院生。故郷においては世界代行者を排出する一族に生まれるもすぐに捨てられ、その一員と認められなかった男。代わりに自分を育ててくれた育ての親の面影を持つ者を「母様（かかさま）」と呼び、絶対の聖域とする。己の容姿に強いコンプレックスを持ち、理想の自分を細部まで実現したタロスというロボットを自作している。ヘパイストスは幼くして捨てられた者に対して、深い同情を抱き、傷の舐め合いをせずには居られない。片や、彼の自作ロボットは、己と同じ「誰かに愛されるために造られた者」に対して共感を抱く。

Official English "The flame that smolders within Hephaestus is imbued with a Rule that scours away all impurities, leaving behind nothing but the purest truth. This ability makes him capable of understanding even the most complex of Systems, but due to his speech impediment, he struggles to convey any of his findings to others. However, he has redesigned and upgraded a robot brought from his home world to act as an ideal version of himself in his place. Created by melding together several different Systems, this perfected robot is capable of adapting optimally to any situation and of perceiving and exploiting the weaknesses of any System; however, he is held back from his fullest potential by his creator's failings as a commander. Hephaestus suffers from a deep-seated jealous streak, and finds it difficult to conceal his envy of other, more charismatic Crafters."

Translated from Japanese The fire in Hephaestus has the power to burn away all impurities and leave behind only the unvarnished truth. By using this he is able to understand any sort of complicated system, but due to the speech impediment that gave rise to his complex he is unable to convey this understanding well to anyone. In exchange, he has remodeled the robot created in his home world until it has reached the heights of what he calls his ideal self. The thing created from a connected collection of mechanisms can adapt to all situations and hit the weaknesses of any mechanism. Because it is the ideal, it is always the best. Unfortunately since Hephaestus's orders are poor its performance cannot be perfectly displayed. He is fascinated by those who resemble himself, and he cannot hide his deep, contrarian jealousy towards artificers who possess leadership qualities.

Official Japanese ヘパイストスに宿る炎は、あらゆる不純物を燃やし、最も純粋な真実だけをその後に残すための「権能」を有する。これを用いて彼は、いかなる複雑な機構（システム）でも理解することが出来るが、コンプレックスに由来する口下手のため、それを誰かに上手く伝えることが出来ない。しかし、その代わりに彼は、かつて故郷で産み出したロボットを「理想の自分」と呼ぶべき高みにまで改造してしまった。複数の機構を継ぎ接いで造られたそれは、あらゆる状況に適応し、あらゆる機構の弱点を突くことができる。故に理想、常に最高。しかし、ヘパイストスの命令が拙いために、そのパフォーマンスは十全に発揮されずにいる。自分と似た者を惹きつける、リーダーシップがある技術者に対して、深くもひねくれた嫉妬を隠せない。

Translated from Japanese For Hephaestus, the ocean is an important place filled with the memories of the person who became his mother. He thinks of the sounds of the sea as a lullaby and the rolling waves as a cradle. Summer is the season in which hordes of people visit the beach, the place full of dear memories. On one hand he's displeased by this, but on the other he seems to have something like admiration for this as well. This sense of opposition and devotion to the one who holds the traces of the one he calls mother has at last set him up to start making his own ideal sea. These conflicting emotions draw a circle like a social dance with a lead and a follower. This spiraling action burns hotter than the sun, elevating to ever greater heights. As a robot technician, he gets on well with people who can understand programming languages.

Official Japanese ヘパイストスにとって「海」は、自分の母親となってくれた者との思い出の詰まった大切な場所である。潮騒に子守唄を、引き寄せる波に、そのゆりかごを思う。夏はそんな思い出の場所である大切な「海」に多数の人々が訪れる季節。それを疎ましく思う一方で、どこか憧れのようなものも抱いているようだ。その対抗心と、母様と呼ぶ相手の面影を持つ者への献身から、ついに自身の「理想の海」を創り出すことに取り掛かった。相反した感情は社交ダンスのリードとフォローの関係の如く舞踏の輪を描いてゆく。その螺旋運動は太陽よりも熱く燃え上がり、より高き何かへと昇華されゆくのだ。ロボット技術者として、プログラム言語で通じ合える相手に対しては相性が良い。

Summer Hephaestus actually the most bullshit OP unit the game has ever seen.

He's got everything he could possibly want. Crits, evasion, expanded movement, ardor, insane charge building, one of the best pull abilities in the game and fucking AoE charm spam because why the fuck not? Literally the only thing he could possibly want is guts and healing, and that's assuming anything even survives long enough to hit him (on the few turns that he doesn't have evasion up and the enemies aren't charmed)

Possibly the best part is that he only needs to be moved every other turn for max effectiveness, so you can pair him up with another unit that needs to move to fully use their kit.
