Their consciousnesses have muddled together, and while the initiative is with Azathoth, he is using the summoner boy's personality as a base for an avatar. Since he takes actions based on the summoner's wishes, he likes computer games. This time he has displayed an unusual interest in Halloween and chose to participate. Perhaps that has something to do with the feelings he has towards his family. He has put on a Halloween demon costume and pranks people with gusto. It is a good day for him when he can pull pranks, but said pranks are no laughing matter to the whole of Tokyo. Here in Tokyo, those from Old Ones are given the privilege to skip through spacetime regardless of Enclosed Areas. The Almighty Idiot Azathoth states that "ignorance is dreadful" and that "when things are dreadful, all you can do is laugh." Due to that, he is always craving a "certain something" and continues to gnaw on something.

I think he’s likely in a vegetative state more than brain dead, as whatever magic affecting Tokyo (and by proxy, keeping him alive,) would have likely been cut off after what happened with Michael. Yes, the Old Ones would have magic, but I doubt it’d keep him alive long enough.

So, MAJOR SPOILER WARNING

If the kid sitting on the throne was technically his "summoner" and was a Tokyo native and NOT a transient, and the manifestation of Azathoth we get is kind of like the mix of two, then I have two questions.

First, why didn't he wake up after Shino severed the link between the real Azathoth and the Tokyo manifestation?

Second, why wasn't the boy left behind after Michael and his Pay2Win haxbot killed Azathoth?

Did sitting on the throne permanently kill the kid and fuse him into it? Did he actually wake up and Michael just killed him too? Did LW just forget the part where they said the kid was separate from the real Azathoth? Did he have to be naked when he sat on the throne?
