Apparently the Rule Makers don't view Maria as someone native to Tokyo by the end of Chapter 14. Whether it's from her Sacred Artifact or possibly having a Transient as a parent or being descended of one (like Toji) is unknown.

Based on the fact that Maria shares many characteristics with Jesus, would it be correct to affirm that her role is "the martyr" or "The sacrifice"? Since most of the time that she uses her Sacred Artifact it is to take the pain and wounds of others, and carry them on herself. And it would also be okay to say that her rule would be the "compensation", she absorbs the pain of others and in return can grow her spines to a size equivalent to that pain, or perhaps the "pain" rule? since its effects are focused on this character

If you read the parts where she gets embarrassed by the dress she's wearing during the Christmas event with Gabriel, Krampus, and Ryota, she is either talking about herself in 3rd person in that instance when you tell her she looks nice. Whether she was or wasn't, it comes off bad. She doesn't speak in 3rd person all the time but when she does, it sounds so weird.
