"High-school-aged guild master of the Ueno Beast Tamers, an organization that seeks to control its member's Rules, among other goals. Yuma, which is his alias, was accepted into the dormitory of the heavily Therian-staffed and attended Ueno Academy, as well as its affiliated research lab, as a scholarship student. This might raise eyebrows, considering that he is human, if not for a special trait that makes him an incredibly valuable sample of Transient biology. Is it a Rule? A disease? Or something else? Experts cannot agree. Caught in the middle, Yuma finds himself plagued by the nagging thought that he should have been born a Therian. Anytime the shame and embarrassment of being human becomes too much to bear, he dashes into his safe place: a quarantine cage he built with his own hands. No one can stay in a cage forever, though, and when it comes time to step outside, he dons a hood made from fur shed by his Therian schoolmates. Still, life is not all doom and gloom; Yuma's been cheering on a certain Therian idol for a while now, and that idol recently made their big debut. He's also been catching the eyes of the rare Therian or two in his guild who are interested in humans."

Yuma is a scholarship and boarding student of the therian-packed research organization Ueno Academy despite being a human. A large part of this is due to his status as a very rare Transient biological sample. Even specialists seem unsure as to whether this is due to a power, an illness, or some other reason. Yuma constantly believes he was supposed to be born a therian. He's ashamed at being born a human and has a tendency to cover his eyes with his hood. When it gets to be too much for him, he runs and takes refuge in a isolation cage he made. The hood he wears seems to be woven from the fallen hair of the therian Transients at his school. He admits to being a fan of a certain therian idol since even before his public debut. The rare humanie (ie human-loving) guild members secretly look after him. The name Yuma is an alias.

上野ビーストテイマーズのギルドマスター高校生。かのギルドとギルドマスターの目的はひとつ、どうすれば皆の「権能」を制御できるか、だ。人間であるにもかかわらず、獣人だらけの研究機関、飢野学園の特待生にして寮生。その大きな理由のひとつは、彼の持つ特性が「転光生物学的に非常に稀有なサンプルだから」。それが「権能」か、病気か、それとも別の何かであるのか、専門家の間でも意見が分かれているらしい。そんなユーマが常に抱える気持ちは「自分は獣人に生まれるはずだった」というもの。何故か人間であることを恥ずかしく思っており、フードを目深にかぶって顔を隠したがる。恥ずかしさに耐えられなくなると、自分でつくった隔離用の檻に逃げ込むという。やむなく外出時に被るフードは、同学園の獣人「転光生」たちの抜け毛で織られているようだ。最近デビューした某ケモノアイドルを配信経由で推しており、顔出し前からのファンを自認する。上野ギルドに在籍する希少種としてヒトナー、つまり人間好きなギルドメンバーから密かに目をかけられている。このギルドマスター「ユーマ」というのは、彼の偽装の名である。

"His Sacred Artifact is either a bona fide bestial Transformation or else a particularly convincing self-delusion of one born of the Tokyo air. Not even the Ueno Guild with their cutting-edge understanding of Transient biology can make the distinction. After all, in the System of Tokyo, those two possibilities have no clear distinction, in theory. This applies doubly so to Yuma, who constantly locks himself up in a secure Battle Zone of his own making. His penchant for enclosed spaces and his ambiguous Transformation ability have earned him classification as a cryptid at his academy. Lupine and Canis Therians are among Yuma's favorite Transformation subjects, and he has an easier time activating his Rule when he consumes some aspect of an animal or Therian, such as fur or blood. Researchers have observed him acquiring a Therian's bestial might and alacrity after doing so, though he reverts back once the ingested tissue has been expelled. More than a few fellow students are unsettled by his habit of observing them from the shadows and gathering their fur. However, this behavior is a result of Yuma questioning his own lack of Therian blood, and he readily empathizes with the shame of others who share his plight."

Researchers have observed that doing so allows Yuma to recreate the body parts of a therian. However should Yuma disgorge whatever he took in, the transformation will come undone. He seems to prefer canine or lupine transformations. Some of his dorm mates are a little afraid of him and his habits of picking up hair and watching from the shadows. Yuma has something akin to secondhand embarrassment for an associate whose true form might not be animal-like.

彼が持つ獣憑きの「神器」、あるいはこの東京における特殊な獣化妄想症。この２つの違いは、転光生物学の最先端たる上野ギルドにも分からない。何故なら、この東京の「システム」においてこれらは理論上、厳密に区別できないからだ。常に自らが作った閉鎖領域へ引きこもっている、ユーマであればなおさらである。故に彼は「UMA」、未確認生物であると飢野学園において指定されている。その「権能」は獣の一部、たとえば獣毛や血などを取り込むことで発動しやすくなるという。これによって、獣人の身体的能力を再現することが出来るようだと研究者からは観察されている。ただし、取り込んだ体組織を吐くなどして、外に出てしまうと変身が解けることがあるようだ。犬系あるいはオオカミ系獣人に変化することを好んでいるらしい。ユーマに抜け毛を拾われたり、いつも陰から見られてたりで、ちょっと怖がっている同寮生もいたりする。本当の姿は獣ではないかもしれない仲間に対して、共感性羞恥に似た感情を抱いている。
