However once children grow to be taller than the butterbur, they will no longer be able to see the people who live under those leaves. Notes
- Korpokkur are a race of small people, from the Ainu beliefs, north of Japan. These little people despised being seen, and often gave gifts to the Ainu during the night, to avoid it.
- the division of the word into Kor (or Koro), Pok, and Kur (or Kuru) describe them as People under the Fuki(butterbur) leaves (kor= Butterbur, Pok= under, Kur= People).
- Korpokkur also has some resemblance with Peter Pan, as he wishes for kids to never grow up, and, from his phrasing, it also implies the book's Peter Pan intentions of killing each kid when they grew up, also applies to him.
