As a watcher of the dead, he has come to see off travelers heading to the world of long nights. They say when he's bored he often tells riddles to whoever happens to walk by to confound them. People know him through terrifying rumors that say he eats anyone who fails to answer those riddles. Sphinx however has never eaten anyone since it would mean there would be one less person to play with, which may be one reason his body has never shown any signs of growing. Originally he wore a mask that symbolizes authority and spoke in a tone befitting that manner, but this frightened everyone he came across so he eventually he went without it. Sphinx is another half self of the World Representative of Aaru who rules the sky and lived in the world of daylight. He specializes in haggling and trickery about as well as the leaders of his guild. He doesn't like being treated as a child, but he doesn't hate the vampire who calls him cute either. When certain conditions are fulfilled, he joins a different guild.}}

He often uses it to partly force people to answer his riddles and play board games with him, but presently Sphinx has not yet noticed the true nature of this power. He has an aspect as a riddle creator. The Akasaka Agents guild he is a part of has sent him requests where he has caused many cases to run into riddles and go unsolved. Sphinx's hobby in Tokyo is collecting OOPArts and urban legends in existential limbo. He especially likes acting like a sage in existence verification games, games that prove or deny the existence of such things. Among other things he acknowledges the clearheadedness of the literature-loving criminal psychologist when he proves the existence of a criminal in cold cases. In existence verification games he always takes the position of proving that something exists, so he's easily liked by people who aren't sure whether said something exists or not.}}
