Though from another school, Jugo sought out Avarga, hoping to learn the coach's secrets and polish up his own skills—the coach is well known in the martial arts world, after all. Standing atop the blazing sands clad in a swimsuit, this judo practitioner has nothing to rely on but his muscle and skill. Avarga advances, slamming himself against Jugo. The younger combatant rises from the ground covered in sand after being sent flying. This repeats, and repeats, and repeats. Perhaps the knowledge that Avarga's rival had trained Jugo emboldens and animates the coach's tackles and grapples a little too much. Jugo seeks training first and foremost as a means of resisting the curse he is burdened with, and the sight of such a young man fighting his fate touches Avarga's heart. The wrestling coach wants to do right by him, and thus, he sends the youth flying again."

Official Japanese 「アヴァルガ師匠、今日の稽古もよろしくお願いします！　……ってうわわっ、砂が口の中に入ったぁ！？」 「覚悟はよかと？　今日は本気でいっぱい倒しちゃる！　砂の上とて、気を抜いとったらいかんとね……せぇいっ！」 依々祇学園でレスリング部コーチを務めているアヴァルガと、究段武道学園で柔道部に所属するジュウゴ。 その日は、砂の上での学園間交流稽古であった。 学園は違えどジュウゴは自らの技能を高めるため、格闘技関係者の間で名高いアヴァルガに個人稽古を願い出る。 水着に着替えて砂浜へ出れば、頼れるものは己の肉体と技量のみ。 肉がぶつかっては宙に舞い、全身余さず砂まみれになるのを繰り返す。 自分のライバルの指導を受けたと聞き、アヴァルガの指導には熱が入りすぎてしまっているのかもしれない。 ジュウゴは大蛇の呪いに抗うために格闘技の世界に身をおいている。 必死になって挑む姿を目にしたアヴァルガは、どこか放っておけないものを感じているようだ。
