「寺育ちの俺に張り合おうたぁ、生意気にも程があるつってんだぜ、ケンゴ！」 持て余すほどの、この力こそが己の存在証明だ。 宝蔵院オニワカも高伏ケンゴも、荒くれたちが集う街でその矜持を胸に生きてきた。 だが我武者羅なだけでは、他の喧嘩自慢たちに通じはしない。 押しては引く、その駆け引きが戦いの妙味を生み出すのだと彼ら２人はよく知っている。 そして今、２人だけで紡がれる激闘は今形を変え―― 白く輝く餅が、臼の中で跳ねる。 反発しあうケンゴとオニワカだが、その呼吸は見事に餅つきの体を成していた。 不器用な心をひたすらにぶつけ合ってきた、どこか似た者同士な、傷だらけの２人。 押して引いて、叩いて延ばしたこの餅を、２人は意中の相手に食べさせるのだろう。
