「無茶だでば、モトスミ。人間が鬼に、敵うはずがねえ…はひははは！？」

「鬼のが人間より喧嘩が強えに決まってるってか？　浅草のヤンキーは、鬼より怖えぞ、タコッ！」「鬼たちを統べる」タケマルと「鬼を調伏する力」を持つモトスミ。節分の日に出会った２人は、寺に住む孤児たちの情操教育の一環として「鬼は内」な節分を教えることとなった。ワノクニにおいて「節分」とは、タケマルのような「鬼」という「厄」を払う儀式である。彼の地において「鬼」とは「まつろわぬ者」のことであり、そして「頭頂に人とは違う特徴を持つ者」のことでもあった。それは即ち「小さき柱」たる「角」を己が肉体に根付かせた者、という意味でもある。「人」の身でありながら「鬼を調伏する力」を持ち、柱源生起を厳修するモトスミは「鬼」の領域に半分、足を踏み入れている。それはつまり鬼の孤児たちを家族と迎え入れるモトスミは、「人」から半分疎まれる存在である、ともいえるだろう。そして角が折れてしまったこのタケマルもまた、「鬼」から足を半歩踏み出した似た者同士である。しかし２人の持つ「役割」は、多種多様な「転光生」が生活するこの東京においては別の道を辿る、かもしれない。かの「役割」と「権能」の行き着く先は寂滅を示し、されど拓いた道はその先も続く。
