The Independent are characters who act independently from a guild.
Context
Units that are tagged as Independent are usually those who have motives separate from the guild or guilds they are a part of, but still seen to affiliate themselves with a guild regardless. Examples include 
Musashi who works as an independent contractor for pay from other guilds, and 
Kirito who actively joins and leaves guilds.
