Translated from Japanese A Summon who is a member of the Sumo club, he has a cheerful yet rough personality, and has the qualities of a boss who guides his underlings. Because he often undertakes requests even when they're a bother, he is quite popular at school. In his home village in the mountains, a certain man, who despite being close to victory in a match, ran away from Ashigara. Ever since, Ashigara devoted to his time to perfecting the three qualities of sumo; heart, technique, and physique. As a result, he finally became known as "The Most Powerful Man in the Country," and was given his Sacred Artifact, a shimenawa, to wear. He has feelings for an affectionate, gloomy person who was born in the mountains.

He has a tendency to drag his past behind him and is extremely vulnerable when people point it out. He often hides in the mountains but returns right away when he gets lonely."

Thanks to vigorous training, he's become such a veteran that everyone in his school, and even amateurs outside of it, know of him. However, because he's spent so much time training, he's become distant to the lives of other students, and social trends. With a shout of "Come with me!", he drags his Juniors to the beach. Ashigara excitedly bathes in the glances the other students give him thanks to his new look, which was said to be the idea of a legendary fashion coordinator at school, but the results are very questionable.

• He might be named after Mount Ashigara, birthplace of the legendary Kintarō.
• Ashigara's 4 star title of "Tug of War Champion." is a mistranslation. 国引き (Kunibiki) is based off an old story where man ties a rope around the country and pulls it in. 綱取り (tsunatori) is the word for when a sumo wrestler who is rank oozeki (the 2nd highest rank in sumo) is aiming for the rank of yokozuna, the highest rank in sumo. His title is calling him the oozeki ranked sumo wrestler so strong he can pull a country. The mistranslation likely came from that 国引き and 綱取り share similar kanji as 綱引き(tsunahiki), the Japanese word for tug of war. Or it could be on purpose for localization.

• Ashigara, together with Gunzo, and with Barguest, share two different loading screens. On the first one, Gunzo seems to be introducing Ashigara, or trying to contain him, while Ashigara is angry, asking "Can't you hold back?" (手加減せんぞ？), and on the second, with Gunzo and Barguest, both are shocked at Barguest's appearance, while he apoligizes stating "Sorry for the wait." (お待たせ.)

This lovable doofus needs another skill evolution imo. He's still solid but he's kind of getting swept under the power creep, and I sort of feel like new and shiny sumo man Yasuyori's taking a lot of the attention.

I still love Ashigara though, especially after chapter 10. Say what you will about who's likely the better sumo, but Ashigara's not lacking in heart.
