They removed them because they were not gender neutral enough for other gender identities. Honestly I felt they could have both in game and change them out depending on the gender identity you want your protagonist to be. It be very easy to program in the game so I wonder why they don't do it.

I saw in a video of Housamo curiosities that they had a swimmsuit skin for each protagonist form, but they were removed in the end. A shame, since they looked pretty cool. To give an idea of those skins, MC2 had a full swimmsuit like Maria while the others had only the lower half like the rest of the boys.

personally, being the amalgam of 24 souls has worked out really well for the mc. sure, they might be dehumanized by the relentless and infinite storm of human and mythological strife wearing down everything they believe in and everything they are, but on the other hand it comes with lots of benefits. like no paid overtime when their job is just overtime. or finding out the guild they joined or friends theyve made have become magical mass murderers. or that they will literally never have vacation time and can never hand in a resignation letter because of how the game works. or a glaring lack of taco tuesday. or even the basic freedom of being allowed to forget their embarrassing former selves in a loop who fell in love with a mid character

they get to meet a cute guys with huge tits in a spandex though!
