"A Transient from the Land of Wa, Ebisu is an avid fisher. Everyone loves him for the earnestness with which he tries to take on any problem, though he fails just as often as he tries. He wants to live a peaceful life, but feels pressure when those around him praise him, saying he'll make it big, or that he's spurring on the fishing industry. Is running into an old acquaintance from his days aboard a treasure ship a streak of luck, or a sign that his luck has run out? Either way, a new adventure calls!"
Translated from Japanese
A Transient from Wa no Kuni whose hobby is fishing. He engages in everything with an earnestness, which often instills good will with his diligence and bravery. However, the mark against him is that he often fails as well. He wanted to live in peace in a quiet place, but he feels pressure from being revered and worshipped by people around him for business prosperity and fishing facilitation. Is his happenstance meeting with that pushy someone who he once rode along with on the treasure ship a bottoming out of his luck or a fated reconnection? His new adventure is sounding out and starting here.

"His Fishing Pole Sacred Artifact is imbued with the Rule to be able to reel anything in. He also carries a fish-shaped Cushion Sacred Artifact, which he can both grow and shrink at will, and use to float into the air. He uses it whenever he's out fishing. However, the fact that only he can mount this Cushion vastly diminishes any sort of value or purpose it may have otherwise had. The translucent fish which dance around him are a part of him, and spring forth from his body. He's talented at cooking up the fish which he catches, as those who eat his cooking tend to agree."
Translated from Japanese
His fishing rod Sacred Artifact has the power to reel in anything it hooks up without fail. He also has a sea bream shaped cushion Sacred Artifact, and that has the power to change its size based on the current mood and float in space. It's normally used while fishing, but it can only be used by Ebisu and is not the sort of item that has a use other than as a seat cushion. The clear fish that float around Ebisu are a part of him and gush forth from his body. Cooking up the fish he reels up is also one of his strong points, and he is highly valued by the people who have eaten them.

Ebisu has become a mummy wrapped up in bandages for a Halloween costume this time. The wish that led him to pick that motif was the desire for everyone to eat his newly developed coated sausage, the Ebisumaki. But now that he's suddenly participating in Halloween, he's gotten himself entangled in the conflict of pranks and laughter. On an unrelated subject, up until this point Ebisu has been blessed with countless chances to be the straight man to the antics of free spirits around him like Benten and Hotei. However, this gentle boy has never really jabbed at other people's bodies much no matter how idiotic they behaved. Once a certain someone from somewhere lent him a certain Sacred Artifact, everything changed. Thus did Ebisu's cutting remarks take on a physical edge to them. When Hotei saw him like that, he feared him and called him "Kannon of the Thousand Hand Retorts!" Ebisu is the Transient said to have come back to life from Tokoyo no Kuni, otherwise known as the underworld, which gives him a sort of commonality with the faith known as Halloween.
Ebisu is based on the deity of the same name. He is the kami luck and good fortune, patron of fishermen, and a member of the Seven Lucky Gods.
Of the seven, he is the only one who has originated from Japan without any influence from Hinduism.
Ebisu is often depicted holding a fishing rod and a large red tai (sea bream).
The tai is homonymous with medetai (congratulations), making it a staple of Japanese weddings and other major celebrations that invoke good fortune.
Ebisu is a marebito, or visiting deity. These deities come from an undefined place across the sea or deep in the mountains. If received properly, the marebito are said to return the host's kindness with gifts.
In Ebisu's case, he is often caught by fishermen in their nets as he floats from place to place. When hauled in he turns into a stone that, if properly worshiped and given offerings of drink and fish, will bless the crew with fortunate catches.
Ebisu is sometimes identified with whales because, like him, they come during a season bringing bounty then depart again to the depths of the sea.
His relationship with Hephaestus and Ifrit are due to all three being discarded to some extent.
Both Ebisu and Hephaestus were discarded by their parents.
Conversely, both Ebisu and Ifrit were thrown out to sea.

i think if i was a fish and ebisu caught me on his line and reeled me into his boat and then removed me from his hook and then delicately cut the artery between my gills and bled me out in the water and then put me in his cooler on ice to take home and he cut me into strips and dipped me in eggs and then flour and fried me in hot oil and then sat down and ate me in front of the football game with a beer and then fell asleep with his feet up on the couch with my bones in a plate on his lap i would truly feel loved for once
So are both his fishing rod and magic cushion sacred artifacts? Are there any other characters who have more than one Sacred Artifact, or does that make him unique?
Clearly you aren't using him correctly. Ebisu's front pull works very well with characters like Aegir. He brings enemies closer for Aegir to kill them. He also works well when you have Ifrit Drummer variant passing him concentration, Fervor, and friendship buff. He'll do more damage and skills will activate 20% more. He can be able to kill or do a lot of damage for Aegir or any thrust unit to finish the job. I find Ebisu to be a great unit when used correctly.
He's super cute. Got his four star and maxed him ASAP.
Couldn't have been more disappointed. His damage is terrible, but he heals enemies for a LOT when he hits more than one, and just to make it worse he pulls them in so they can hit him back. Not even his massive health those ++crits are enough to make up for that. He's just too much of a liability to have on your team and doesn't really bring anything to the table that say Shinya or Gabriel or just about any other healer doesn't do better.
Drew the 4 star version and was like hey, it's this illustrator. Nikumaru, or Tanukimaru now I guess. He draws incredibly cute fat guys, incase you couldn't immediately tell. lol
He's off to a great start. Dat pose in the 4 star man. But it's good to see his skills are actually good too I could really use a good long range character with strong support.
Characters who don’t need to move for any of their skills are pretty rare even at the 4-star level- Ebisu definitely has an excellent set of support skills. Seafarer is very situational, of course, but the double effects on some the other skills easily makes up for that. I almost want to rearrange my team to make use of him, but I already have Babalon giving my team Blessing...
Huh. Ebisu's got a pretty nice support skillset. Never need to move him, three different flavors of healing (one of which is a buff), and, of course, the 4 in 25 chance he'll just nuke the enemy team.
