As for event items, LW hinted at three separate types this go around: Sea's Bounty, Life Preserver, and Treasure. For the first two items, they behave as event items usually do in past events. However, Treasure behaves differently:
You can exchange ten of them for Coin x1,000,000 each
Initially, you can only exchange only nine until specific conditions are met
Afterwards, you can exchange them for Coin x100,000 each.
Lastly, similar to the formation bonus of Distant Gendarme, your team can receive additional bonuses based on the weapon types used throughout your team (only during quests that drop the event items, these effects do not stack):
