As he is used to a solitary life, he has little concept of relying upon others or being relied upon. He is a little embarrassed about his lack of restraint when it comes to food, so he greatly admires others who can match his appetite but are capable of better controlling themselves."

However, he consumes in such excess not to sate himself, but simply because it is all he knows. For him it's less about eating until he's satisfied and more that eating itself is his lifestyle. Also he considers the question of who he will be offered to an unimportant one as well. He has unconditional sympathy for anyone whose appearance reminds him of the great beast of the ocean.
