"A Transient who works part-time at the Macaque's Pond, a bathhouse in Asakusa in the Taito Ward, and attends Umamichi Academy as a high school student. He feels strongly attached to it after being taken in there after he was summoned to Tokyo and feels it to be fate. With a rough-looking face and even rougher speech, he's a roughneck and everyone knows it. On the other hand, he's a really sweet guy on the inside, and his kindness has won him widespread popularity with the bathhouse's regulars. He dislikes how easily his face gets red when he's embarrassed. Once, he nearly drowned after being caught by a clam, so he holds a great deal of respect for those in the profession of saving people from watery woes. This experience has also left him with feelings of deep awe, bordering on fear, toward anyone who sticks shellfish or shells on their body."

A Transient who works part time at the public bathhouse in Asakusa, Taito Ward, Saru no Yu. He attends the high school department of the local school, Umamichi Academy. He was summoned to Tokyo and found there, and he seems to feel a strong attachment and fate there. But as a matter of fact he is deeply considerate and compassionate, so he is liked by many of the regular customers of the bathhouse. He himself admits to having a complex about how red his face gets when he's shy. He also holds fear and respect for those who stick a lot of shells to themselves.

Sarutahiko himself may not be aware of this, but when he started working as a guide in Saru no Yu, it's said that rude and violent customers began to stop appearing there. Thanks to that the business went to flourish on even more. Since he originally worked as a road guide in his home world, he's surprisingly suited to guide people in all things. But on the other hand, he's not suited to guide those who won't listen and are quick to run off.

胸から下げた貝殻の「神器」から出る泡に包まれたものは、どれだけ弱り果てていても、生命の輝きを取り戻すという。更に、死や病といったものとは対極に位置するこの泡は、既に降りかかった穢れを洗い流すだけではなく、これから降りかかるであろう穢れをも防ぐ「権能」を持つ。サルタヒコ自身は気付いていないかもしれないが、彼が「さるの湯」で案内役として働き始めてからというものの、マナーの悪い客や粗暴な客が少なくなったと言われている。そのおかげか店は更に繁盛することとなったのだ。元々、故郷でも道案内を生業としていた過去があり、万事が上手くいくように誰かを導くというのは案外性に合っているらしい。しかし、一方で、その導きに耳を貸さずに突っ走る者とはそりが合わない。

He is based on Sarutahiko Ōkami, the leader of the earthly kami and considered a god of the crossroads on the visage of a monkey.
In Japanese mythology, Sarutahiko is an earthly deity who offered himself as a guide to the divine grandchild Ninigi, the future father of Yamasachihiko, and other Shinto deities on their descent from heaven to earth.
Sarutahiko was described as having a fantastic appearance including red buttocks, which are a prominent characteristic of Japanese macaques.
His Sacred Artifact is based on the legend that his hand got caught in a shell while fishing and a monkey (macaque) with one hand caught in a shell which is a frequent theme of many Japanese folktales.
- His Sacred Artifact references Aramitama, one of the four Mitama, or divine spirit in Shinto religion which represents the wild side of a kami.
