A relatively modest but effective unit, {{Transient icon|Horkeu Kamui|rarity=4}} specializes in protecting and supporting a single other unit. Default and LB1 supplement his role in the front line, while the evolved LB2 can provide a good mix of damage, healing and CP boosting for both him and his ally, though his restrictive {{Weapon|Blow}} range does not allow for much reach with the former. LB3 ensures that his ally will remain impervious to damage (unless enemies can pierce Evasion) as long as Horkeu moves every turn, while the healing can effectively heal the damage they do suffer. Lastly, his CS' effect is modest at standard low SA level, but the {{Weapon|Magic}} range is useful for having a periodically good reach to do some damage.

{{Transient icon|Horkeu Kamui}} is tough to beat with the Guts+Tenacity combo, he approaches increased durability and KO insurance to reassure he’ll be able to take incoming hits, which is fairly recommended if he wants to approach his LB2 in order to optimize his damage and whatever ally is behind him as well. However, his huge selling point lies in LB3, it’s legitimately and arguably the most life saving skill there is in the game (currently), it easily nurses an endangered ally back to action if you’re willing to move him frequently to approach its effects. Still, he’s not without his downsides, he has to keep moving if he wants Tenacity up to be any durable, and can be overwhelmed by too much damage, not to mention he’s purely {{Weapon|Blow}}, sacrificing viable ranges for damage he might not usually approach.
{{Transient icon|Horkeu Kamui|rarity=5}} expands on his original playstyle, with superior {{Weapon|Slash}} range and a potent skill evolution that allows him to protect his whole team. Default and the evolved LB2 allow him to specialize against enemies heavy on debuffs, with {{Status|en name=Reflect Debuff}} able to turn those debuffs back on them. Keeping the his original Vanguard skill, he can still provide some good offense and CP boosting, where the new CS sadly does not bring much beyond the original, except some added damage thanks to Default. His evolved LB2 and LB3 are where he truly shines, even when not facing debuffers he can reliably provide protection and healing for himself and his allies.

===☆5 Horkeu Kamui (story variant)===

{{Transient icon|Horkeu Kamui|rarity=5}} introduces the new Hero element, it may sound neat on paper, but it sadly quite hinders him offensively towards very common elements and gives him bonus damage to a scarce element that’s also already effectively damaged by everything else (Shadow), the only saving grace there is being currently the only element to resist Light and Dark, arguably the two best elements in the game. On the bright side, while he sacrifices his lifesaving prowess with his original LB3, he gains much-needed self-sustain thanks to Guts, Stubborn with an amazing heal and Fighting Spirit when hit, which will be very often due to his frontline nature. His Charge is an unknowing nuke as well, only made better through party support. Take his Default and his effect ranges as mostly a bonus, since while they can be excellent under the right circumstances, they’re generally difficult to approach.
==={{Star|5}} Hot Paradise Horkeu Kamui===

{{Transient icon|Horkeu Kamui|variant=Hot Paradise}} is a direct inverse of the originals - exchanging ice for fire, supportive defense for pure offense and self-sufficiency. To start off, he now has access to a potent {{Weapon|Magic}} range for doing damage, with tremendous output thanks to {{Status|en name=ATK Up}}, {{Status|en name=Nourishment}} plus bonus damage against {{Status|en name=Burn}} and {{Status|en name=Nullify Buff}}. Good rate of {{Status|en name=Guts}} and {{Status|en name=Tenacity}} endure his durability, while Default lets him idly ramp up CP and a bit of healing. This lets him reach his potent CS quicker, which returns to his roots of providing some team support in addition to even more damage and crippling entire groups with {{Status|en name=Bind}}, while his increased horizontal movement allows him to reposition the whole team easily. Overall, aside from some potentially unreliable activation rates, Hot Paradise Horkeu is one of the strongest damage dealers with excellent range and utility.

+ KO insurance through Default Guts ensures his survivability.
+ {{Status|en name=Reflect Debuff}} and {{Status|en name=Nullify Debuff}} make him extremely potent when facing heavy debuff teams.

+ Traditional increased durability through LB1 Tenacity, paired with Guts makes him formidably tough to beat.

+ LB2 works well to give a damage boost to whoever he is protecting, besides himself.
+ Can effectively defend his entire team, with even greater protection plus healing to up to two allies behind him.

+ LB3 is arguably the most life saving skill in the game (currently) thanks to Evasion nearly nullifying damage, with healing that’s guaranteed to save an ally in danger.
+ Vigor and his CS combined with Default allow for good damage.

'''Cons'''
'''Cons'''

- Purely Strike, with the range being an issue despite his formidable damage.
- His team support is restricted to directly adjacent, making it somewhat restrictive.

- LB2 isn’t necessarily approached in general, neither by him nor most who he’ll end up protecting, he also needs to be hit in order for it to happen.
- Needs to hit at least two enemies to reliably use {{Status|en name=Nullify Debuff}}.

- Past potential damage, Charge isn’t too good.
- Guts can once again prove redundant with his damage reduction.

+ LB1 works well to give a damage boost to himself whenever possible, synergizing well with his frontline nature and affecting allies behind as a bonus.
+ Tremendous damage output at good range.

+ KO insurance through LB2 Guts ensures his survivability as a frontliner.
+ Self-sufficient defense to complement his damage, plus a bit of healing and idle CP charging.

+ LB3 bolsters his and his backline ally’s survivability thanks to Tenacity damage reduction.
+ Increased movement with Nullify Buff, Guts and Bind, plus Burn combined with Conflagration allows him to greatly supplement his team.

+ If under LB1, his Charge can reach very respectful damage thanks to his Default, even if sadly Freeze is at its weakest effect.

'''Cons'''
'''Cons'''

- Hero element isn’t precisely fantastic offensively, nor is it too remarkable defensively except for resisting Dark and Light.
- Burn, aside from increasing his damage and combining with Conflagration, does relatively little on its own.

- He’s much obliged to have someone behind him at all times if he wants to approach his skills to a better extent if it’s not for self-benefit.

- Status Reflect is anywhere from amazing to underwhelming depending on what it reflects, and again, only to people behind him.

- Is debatably Charge-reliant in order to comfortably deal damage, which his element sadly sets back.
- Some of his activation rates can sometimes prove unreliable.

Overview

Horkeu Kamui

A relatively modest but effective unit, Horkeu Kamui specializes in protecting and supporting a single other unit. Default and LB1 supplement his role in the front line, while the evolved LB2 can provide a good mix of damage, healing and CP boosting for both him and his ally, though his restrictive 1.00x ATK penaltyBlow range does not allow for much reach with the former. LB3 ensures that his ally will remain impervious to damage (unless enemies can pierce Evasion) as long as Horkeu moves every turn, while the healing can effectively heal the damage they do suffer. Lastly, his CS' effect is modest at standard low SA level, but the 0.28x ATK penaltyMagic range is useful for having a periodically good reach to do some damage.

Default and the evolved LB2 allow him to specialize against enemies heavy on debuffs, with Reflect DebuffReflect debuff once for 4 turns. Vanishes after use. (Buff) able to turn those debuffs back on them. Keeping the his original Vanguard skill, he can still provide some good offense and CP boosting, where the new CS sadly does not bring much beyond the original, except some added damage thanks to Default. This lets him reach his potent CS quicker, which returns to his roots of providing some team support in addition to even more damage and crippling entire groups with BindCannot activate skills, ATK Down by 0.9x ~ 0.45x for 4 turns. CS effects still apply. (Debuff), while his increased horizontal movement allows him to reposition the whole team easily.
