☆3/☆4 Hogen
Example overview
☆5 Summer Festival Hogen
Similar to his common version, Hogen boasts of tremendous damage output thanks to LB3, now supported by Fervor as well. He abandons his Guts and sword in exchange of an attack range (through literally a gun) that greatly benefits his Default, which by itself speaks wonders due to how powerful Bind is as an ailment. His Charge was carried over as well, being excellent as usual with Evasion mitigating nearly any damage taken for him and his party. He even has a safeguard against ailments thanks to his LB2, which in turn also makes him excellent as a positioner. Literally the only thing that prevents him from being godly is his element, Hero element isn’t very good offensively due to dealing half damage to common elements (Fire, Water, Grass) and being effective against Shadow, a not-so common element that is already effectively damaged by almost every other element, you can argue that the original has essentially better damage output and Guts to survive the odds, but this one performs similarly well all things considered.

☆3/☆4 Hogen
Class: Bruiser, Glass Cannon
Gameplay Role:
Pros
+ Default Bind when attacking proves excellent to shut down enemy skill-casting and reducing incoming damage.
+ Obtains KO insurance through LB1 Guts, with LB2 serving to let him position his party around or reach enemies easily.
+ LB3 Critical+ makes his damage skyrocket for the turn it’s available, which extends to his Charge, that by itself can potentially deal humongous damage and turn the tide of a losing fight thanks to near-absolute damage mitigation.
Cons
- Demands being a frontliner to keep Bind going, requiring good positioning and hitting something to be effective.
- He must absolutely hit something when he gets LB3 in order to approach it given how short-lived it is as a buff.
- To that, after his humongous LB3 surge, he falls into being a Bind-bot until the next stage arrives.
☆5 Summer Festival Hogen
Class: Glass Cannon
Gameplay Role:
Pros
+ Default Bind when attacking proves excellent to shut down enemy skill-casting and reducing incoming damage, especially thanks to his attack range.
+ LB2 Status Barrier to self on demand allows him to ward off against potent ailments and ailments overall if managed well.
+ LB1 Fervor and LB3 Critical+ makes his damage skyrocket for the turn it’s available, which extends to his Charge, that by itself can potentially deal humongous damage and turn the tide of a losing fight thanks to near-absolute damage mitigation, Fervor greatly helps pushing him closer to it.
Cons
- Being VALIANT element, while able to resist AETHER and NETHER and damage INFERNAL, doesn’t favor him much due to his purely offensive nature, which ultimately hinders his performance against many of the common elements there are.
- Half of his skills require him to move, this is especially true for Fervor, as Status Barrier has a longer duration and won’t always be used up.
- He must absolutely hit something when he gets LB3 in order to approach it given how short-lived it is as a buff, especially due to his element.
