Overview

Balor

Balor is a unique bruiser who boasts one of the most devastating CS in the game, but achieving it is no simple task. His Default allows him to reach 100 CP faster in exchange for his health, and here lies the CS Weapon Change (All)Changes the unit's charge skill weapon type to All-ranged for 1 turn. (Buff) that allows him to actually fire it at a small chance after each buff. His LB1's AdamantineDEF Up by 0.9x ~ 0.45x for 4 turns (Buff) and BrawnATK Up by 1.15x ~ 2.3x for 4 turns (Buff) both last four turns, so he only has TenacityDEF Up by 0.9x ~ 0.45x for 1 turn (Buff) to repeat every turn for the chance at using his CS, though the buff itself only has a moderate activation rate. If Balor wants to use his CS more reliably, he is best paired with allies who can consistently bestow him different 1-turn lasting buffs such as Leannan Sidhe. Apart from this, he holds an impressive LB3 that lets him cripple and even kill enemies in 0.45x ATK penaltyShot range while waiting for his CS to activate. On his own, Balor is a a potent debuffer who can endure some damage, but his powerful charge is best considered a bonus as playing around it can be unreliable.

Highlights

Balor

Class: Bruiser

Gameplay Role: Debuffer, Damage Dealer

Pros

+ Can withstand damage thanks to TenacityDEF Up by 0.9x ~ 0.45x for 1 turn (Buff) and AdamantineDEF Up by 0.9x ~ 0.45x for 4 turns (Buff).

+ Three powerful debuffs at good range, two of which have high activation rate.

+ Situational CS that, when activated, can almost certainly wipe out any enemy board.

Cons

- Consistently damages himself to charge his CP, which can add up especially if he is taking hits.

- LB2 is very underwhelming, especially at 1.00x ATK penaltyBlow range.

- CS is difficult to actually fire, especially on his own.
