Overview
Ibaraki is a very strong and rather flexible unit, due to his strength boosting skills, he is able to spit out damage frequently and in high chunks while being able to defend himself adequately. Because of this Ibaraki is commonly cited as one of the best attackers in the game and is often a must-pick for stronger team compositions. While his 3-star is a very good starter unit, the 4-star version of Ibaraki is where the unit truly shines, having an extra square of damage area, giving the unit even more space to throw out damage that is large enough to commonly result in a one-shot kill.
Ibaraki also has Mountain Dweller, allowing him to activate Guts at the start of each phase, this blends extremely well with Ibaraki's Charge Skill, Ferocious Ogress, which allows the unit to heal itself for every hit it lands (especially useful in the 4-star version due to the increased range).
Highlights
Adapted with permission from Kiraidi's Tier List
Class: Glass Cannon
Gameplay Role: Flexible Solo Attacker
Pros
+ Heavy hitter with good range
+ Guts and self-healing Charge Skill gives Ibaraki reliable sustainability
+ Heavily flexible unit means he can be effective anywhere
+ Insanely high heal from Charge skill, with a similarly insane damage output with LB1+LB2 buffs.
Cons
- Difficult to juggle with other units due to Striker's After Moving skill procs.
- Water weakness with no way to get around it past Guts.
- LB1 obliges them to move if they want their huge damage, especially if they can use Charge, with proc rate being able to backstab you and suffer a huge damage drop.
- LB3 has a fairly low proc rate and takes getting hit for it, which while not discouraged, isn’t exactly recommended either.

Checks and Counters
Units with Fear Incarnate
Units with Fear Incarnate such as Shiro and Devil mobs are the most solid counterpicks to Ibaraki. The skill inflicts Fear on enemies it hits which locks Ibaraki out of his biggest source of damage (Striker) for five turns. However most units with this skill are unable to put out enough damage to defeat a high level Ibaraki in time. Similarly, Nyarlathotep is a viable fear counter to Ibaraki, but suffers due to a color disadvantage.
WATER Bind units
Similarly to Fear Incarnate units, WATER units with Bind skills such as Fenrir and Benten are able to quickly shut Ibaraki down. Due to the ability to shut down Enchantress, Ibaraki's only When Attacked skill, Fenrir and Benten are arguably more reliable than Shiro and Devils are when dealing with Ibaraki. However, even these units have difficulty taking Ibaraki out in just a couple of phases, and the effects of Bind do not last as long as Fear.

This build is focused on optimizing damage without the need to move 4-star Ibaraki as often as she would usually need to. SF!Nobuharu is the writer's preferred choice for a support unit in this build, although any support unit can work, other recommendations are of course Shiro and Benten. Although Thunderbird and Ibaraki are listed as a Front and Backline attacker respectively, the flexibility of Lightning Dasher allows for Ibaraki and Thunderbird to switch places.
