Inugami recognizes Kenta as one of his own, and bares sharp fangs to anyone who would threaten him. Though it almost never happens, Kenta trusts in Inugami's intuition, and if Inugami decides he likes someone then Kenta will open up to them in kind.}}

Rather, he eats the residual negative emotions and thoughts at the site of tragedies, murders being the staple. To secure food for him, the pair are always wandering the dangerous slums of Tokyo, where most ordinary people would never dare set foot. Knowing Inugami is there for him, Kenta never hesitates even if he may be in harm's way.  Kenta hates those who mistreat dogs more than anything.}}

He also has someone for him to come back. That alone is enough to fill him with a bit of courage. Today he walks just a bit prouder than he did yesterday. When he walks through town with that feeling, he smells chocolates and marshmallows, cakes and cookies...all sorts of sweet scents tickling his nose. Today he walks again, into the center of the sweet scents with that present of a jacket and Inugami to protect him. That familiar created to be a sacrifice shows hostility to the flesh and blood of mankind. But if he sees someone born from the same kind of environment he might act as a guardian regardless of species. You could also call it sympathy for the pitiful children forced to take the curse of enclosed space called fate.}}
