An '''attribute''', also an '''energy''', '''element''', or '''type''' (not to be confused with [[weapon type]]), is a card property as well as a property of an attack that modifies damage with a multiplier, and this multiplier is specific to the attribute of the attack and the attribute of the struck unit. The multiplier may be advantageous (>1x when attacking enemies, <1x when struck by enemies), disadvantageous (vice versa), or neutral (multiplier = 1x).  Each attribute is represented by a symbol and two colors (body color and border color).

Within the regular attribute category, two more informal subcategories can be considered: Fire, Water, and Wood; and Aether and Nether. Similarly, within the special attribute category, Infernal, Valiant, and World can be considered as a subcategory, with All-Round being its own special case.

=Card enhancement items=
Some card enhancement items have an associated attribute: Boosts for leveling up; and Spell Tokens and Power Stones for limit breaking. Matching a boost and card by attribute increases the Exp gained by the Boost by 1.2x, with the exception of All-Round Boosts, which give this bonus to any unit. Limit breaking necessitates using breakthrough items of matching attribute.
