Memories Encroaching (1) (Shinjuku)
Narration begins, revealing that, ever since tapping into the full power of his Sacred Artifact, Shiro's mind has slowly become overwhelmed by it. He initially disregarded it at first, dismissing the effects as nothing more than minor headaches. However, as time went on, the memories of the artifact's original owner, Yog-Sothoth begin asserting themselves on Shiro's mind, overriding his will in an attempt to take control of him. Realizing he will soon lose himself completely, Shiro uses the last of his sanity to write a message for the Protagonist in his notebook.

As Toji and the Protagonist contend with Shadow Hanuman, Kengo has arrived in Ikebukuro and is enjoying watching a fight between two Transients. He is torn between his duty to the Summoners and his natural impulse to fight, but ultimately decides to gets some fights in after he's done and heads toward the Ikebukuro Colosseum, unaware that the 'Transients' who were fighting were actually Shadows sent to scout for any Summoners making their way toward the Berserkers base.

After being filled in on the state of the Berserkers, Toji has a hard time processing how Shadows, beings he assumed were just mindless mirrors of normal people, could have organized themselves in order to pull off such an attack, but eventually comes to the conclusion that someone organized and strengthened them to the point where he isn't sure the two of them alone can be able to deal with them. After the Protagonist fills him in on what they have seen up to this point, Shiro solidifies that Shiro indeed has been taken over by Yog-Sothoth, though he admits there might be a chance to save Shiro if they can remove the Sacred Artifact from his control long enough to disrupt the memory merging. With that in mind, the two decide to head to the Tycoons base to get in touch with Tsathoggua directly. However, they are immediately accosted by Shadows trying to force the Protagonist back to their Safehouse, forcing them to fight their way through.

While the Protagonist was meeting up with Toji, the Shadows that were following Kengo had finally made their move and attacked him, much to his annoyance as they refuse to stay down. Forced to retreat into a back alley, he ends up bumping into Garmr, having escaped before the Berserkers base was completely overrun but unable to find any other guild members in the chaos. As Garmr haphazardly explains the situation to Kengo, both are surrounded by another wave of Shadows lead by Kirito, having aligned himself with the Genociders and is in charge of finding unwitting subjects to create shadows from. Kengo is incensed that Kirito would stoop so low as to become a common criminal, but Kirito casually dismisses the insult and sends the Shadows to finish off him and Garmr. Cornered, Kengo has Garmr head to Shinjuku Academy in order to link up with the remaining Summoners while he deals with the threat. Annoyed, Kirito tells Kengo that the Genociders intend to destroy Tokyo in order to prevent the Game's outcome: when a guild inevitably claims victory, the world the Guild Master is from or is a proxy of will be declared the dominate world, forcing the other worlds connected to Tokyo to be stripped of their rights and power; by destroying Tokyo before that outcome can happen, the Genociders intend to ensure that none of the 23 worlds connected to Tokyo will have to experience such a catastrophe. Kirito then leave when even more Shadows appear, forcing Kengo to desperately fight them off. However, just as Kirito makes a call to a mysterious benefactor, Kengo is saved by a mysterious Transient.

As the Protagonist, Toji and Tsathoggua struggle to deal with Kayo, the Portal belonging to the Wisemen has come under attack from the Shadows. However, they are quickly being dispatched by Musashi, a samurai-in-training currently under the Wisemen's payroll. After dispatching the last of the Shadows, Musashi reports back to Shuichi, who had plenty of time to access the Portal's escape routes with Musashi running interference. After making their way out of the guild, Shuichi wires Mudashi the payment for his work, but is confused why a warrior with the body of an elementary student would need the money, forcing the warrior to subtly admit that 'Musashi' is actually an amalgamation of memories from each of the five blades he carries that reside in the body of the real Musashi, who is currently MIA after an unknown accident. As the both separate, Shuichi warns Musashi against heading toward any of the wards affected by the Genociders attack while Musashi advises Shuichi to stop dumping all his faith on his brother Duo and start trusting other people more, though Shuichi is resistant to take him up on that advice, as he intends to win the Game simply to have Duo sit on top. However, winning the Game soon turns impossible as a phone call reveals that someone has been contracted to kidnap Duo, the Wisemen's Guild Master, though they promise to return him safely after the Genociders have been dealt with.

Slippery Tactics, Persistent Intentions (3) (Jinbocho)
Narration begins, revealing the truth behind Shuichi's Sacred Artifact. Narration reveals that, while several guilds have had theories as to what Shuichi's Clay Tablet actually does, in truth Shuichi had purposefully hidden the fact that it sucks up any worthwhile knowledge around it, even its owner's memories, and stores and transcribes them at its leisure, effectively making it the first book. Shuichi had been using this power in conjunction with Duo, whose Sacred Artifact can create worlds based on the information supplied to him by Shuichi, to further the Wisemen's standing within the APP and strengthen Shuichi's goal of making his brother the sole winner of the Game.

An Alliance of Guilds (1) (Daikanyama Academy)
As the Protagonist's ragtag alliance makes their way toward Moritaka's meeting point, the established attack on the Missionaries has begun to take its toll on the guild. Ryota tries his best to heal the wounded angels, but the strain of being in a fight he wasn't physically or emotionally prepared for quickly forces him to pass out. As the strain of the fight begins to cause infighting amongst the Missionaries' forces, Maria runs into Nyarlathotep, who is conspicuously absent from the fighting and singing Azathoth's praises. Suspecting Nyarl had a hand in informing the Genociders of how to bypass the defenses the Missionaries put around their portal and knowing of the threat Azathoth places on those around him, Maria nonetheless forgives her rogue guild member, knowing that he still cares for Azathoth deep down and has come to realize that the Missionaries, and Tokyo at large, is nothing more than a pawn in Babalon's twisted game of chess. As a stunned Nyarlathotep creates an army of himself to dispatch the Shadows he let it, Hati approaches Maria and chastises her for being so lenient of him when she knows this is the second time he's pulled a stunt like this. Maria quickly calms him down before heading off to perform the next stage in her plan: forming an alliance with whatever remains of their old enemies in the Tycoons.
