As Hakumen's Shadows continue to breach the interior of the Tycoons' base, several low ranking barons in the guild are forced to take shelter with Licht. Licht suggests they hide until the situation is resolved, but the barons overlook his authority and attack the Shadows, with each getting picked off one by one. With Licht the last survivor of the group, the Tycoons' guild master reveals his trump card: he needed the barons to be taken out so he could use his own Sacred Artifact to hijack theirs. After boasting his way through the Shadows, he is contacted by Melusine. He assures his assistant that he's all right, but has to delay his plans and instructs her to stall the Protagonist and their allies long enough to be able to escape from the attack undetected.

Outside the towers, Toji becomes annoyed at the delay. Assuming Licht's meeting is nothing more than a trap, Toji leaves to do some spying and Alice leaves to go speak with someone, leaving Melusine and the Protagonist on their own. With nothing else to do, Melusine leads the Protagonist to the shelter of a nearby art museum revealing that Licht is a skilled painter in his own right, but years of neglect from the Tycoons have caused him to doubt his own abilities. She then reveals a bit about herself: after losing sight of herself back in her homeworld, she became self-conscious of other people's opinions of her upon arriving in Tokyo. After Licht's words left a mark on her, she decided to serve him, but has since become scared of his change in personality. She then takes the Protagonist to a painting Licht has loaned to the museum.

Back at the Tycoons' base, Licht revels in knowing his manipulation of Ophion, Hakumen, and Lucifuge's egos has allowed him to gain control of the guild, with the tower Ophion constructed as a localized Battle Zone in his hubris set to serve as a mass grave for their followers. However, knowing that Ophion will likely make sure he's the last one standing, he needs to align himself with the Protagonist and their guild in order to mop up should he survive.
