As the group fights its way through the horde of zombies, Arsalan reveals that he's familiar with the threat Exceptions pose, having heard of a rumor that an area of the Adachi ward was destroyed in a similar event. Since none of the parties involved survived, the app was unable to properly reset itself, resulting in a cover story of a bombing being established when the destruction mysteriously appeared. Not wanting a similar incident to happen to them, the group re-doubles its efforts to find Ryota, who was located by Maria a while back but are surrounded by zombies, and the missing Zabaniyya.

Arriving just in time to save him, the group finds that Ryota is traumatized from his failure to help out. As the group tries to calm him down, they are approached by Nyarlathotep, who reveals he removed Zabaniyya from the area due to the danger he causes. Despite the others protestations, the Protagonist demands that Nyarlathotep take them to him, which he does but claims he can only use his warping power to carry two people at a time.

The Protagonist and Nyarlathotep warp to the Daikanyama Academy church, where Exception-Zabaniyya is burning down the zombies that have already made it there. However, while overflowing with power, Zabaniyya is at war with himself, causing him to lash out when the Protagonist enters the church.
