Oniwaka and Shuten were both taken in by the temple, grew up in the temple, and ended up leaving the temple. Because of their circumstances, they feel close to each other, and even more so, they have a rivalry. The reason is that Oniwaka once served the descendants of the "Minamoto clan" who invaded Shuten's stronghold. He is one of the few people that Shuten rarely reveals his emotions to, and one that he remembers from his childhood. Like the nostalgic days of training at the temple, the two compete with each other in a waterfall training session. Even in a rain of arrows, they stand tall, and even if they are decapitated, they still have the guts to fight back. Their roots may be similar, as they persist even in the most desperate situations.}}
