Eight Dog Warriors

The Eight Dog Warriors, unofficially known as The Hakkenshi, are a group of Canis Therians who are the spiritual children of Yatsufusa. They are based off the epic novel Nansō Satomi Hakkenden, written by Kyokutei Bakin during the Edo period of Japan.

Overview

The Eight Dog Warriors are samurai who've pledged fealty to the Satomi clan, offshoots of the great Minamoto clan. Each dog warrior bears an orb.^[1]⁴

One notable aspect of each member are the similarities many of their regular 4✩ share. Each has their own specific element assigned to their 4✩ that is unique to them, their own weapon type, an orb with a Confucian virtue inscribed on it, among others.

In one of the past Loops, the Protagonist along with Toji and Yoritomo reunited the Eight Dog Warriors and Shino in a plan to put an end to the Game by eliminating all the World Representatives through sowing discord among them, believing that the Game would come to an end with the final Representative and the Protagonist left standing. However, despite the fact that the plan was carried out perfectly, the final Representative, the Representative of Utopia, never showed up, and the Loop eventually came to an end with everyone going mad and killing each other, the Protagonist along with them.^[2]⁵

Notes

The 'Inu-' prefix in the members' surnames is a pun on the Japanese word for a dog: Inu.
