* Ophion is based on the Elder Titan God of the same name, along with his wife, the Oceanid Titan Goddess Eurynome, ruled the Earth together but were overthrown by the Titans Cronus and Rhea.
* In another interpretation, the Supreme Goddess Eurynome, transformed into a dove, laid an egg with the serpent Ophion from which the world emerged from.
** Both of them stayed on Mt. Olympus until Ophion boasts that he alone created the world; as a punishment for Ophion's boastfulness, Eurynome kicked out his teeth and banished him to the underworld.
