Eden's system strives for a perfect world predicated off a standard of ritual purity to be upheld by unquestioning faith; all that fail to meet that standard are cast out beyond Eden's walls, usually to be destroyed, or be banished through the world's open [[Gate]] to [[Gehenna]]. According to Michael, in cases where the world's purity falls below a tolerable level, the system inevitably resets by initiating the Great Flood, originally with the purpose of destroying lives, but now only wipe away all the memories of the world's residents.
