+Narration begins, providing backstory for how the [[Gate]]s and [[Transient]]s came to be in Tokyo.
+{{Transient icon|Mononobe}} opens a class discussing the differences between Transients and humans as a segway to introduce the {{Transient icon|Protagonist}} to the class before revealing that classes will be cancelled for a while due to a mauling near the school. While the group discusses it, {{Transient icon|Kengo}} is approached by {{Transient icon|Moritaka}} about a training session they set up. {{Transient icon|Ryota}} provides them with some of the background of Shinjuku Academy, but becomes distracted when {{Transient icon|Shiro}} randomly claims he had nothing to do with the aforementioned incident before running off. Worried that something might be wrong with Shiro, the Protagonist and Ryota split up to look for him. While searching outside the school, {{Transient icon|Lil' Salomon}} appears to warn the Protagonist that several other App users have picked up their location and are headed their direction. Soon enough, several Fencers show up and, despite being on orders to look for someone else, decide to gang up on the Protagonist in an attempt to increase some sort of ranking. Luckily, Lil' Salomon stops time long enough to give them the rundown on how PvP battles work in the App before they deal with their attackers.
