The weapon multiplier of a Weapon Change affects damage calculation when the buff is bestowed even mid-attack. For example, {{Transient icon|MacRoich}} gains {{Status|en name=Weapon Change (Thrust)}} after attacking an enemy. Since the attack multiplier for Thrust range is 0.55x while Slash range is 0.45x, this means that MacRoich will deal slightly more damage to any enemy after the first enemy hit, including those in Slash range. Conversely, {{Transient icon|Licho|variant=Festival}} gains {{Status|id=160}} after attacking, so he will deal less damage to any enemy hit after the first enemy since his original range is Long Slash, and this applies even during his Long Slash attack.
In the case of {{Transient icon|Willie Wildcat}}, despite his Weapon Change being bestowed Before Hitting, the first hit of his attack has the attack multiplier of his original weapon range, i.e. 0.28x for Magic, while each subsequent hit has a multiplier of 1x according to Weapon Change Blow. However, in the treatment of weapon-ranged damage resistances, each of his hits are treated as Blow-ranged. That is, if the first hit enemy had a resistance of 0.01x to Magic-ranged attacks, for the purposes of damage calculation, this resistance would be ignored as he is treated as being Blow-ranged, but the weapon multiplier for that first hit enemy would still be 0.28x.
