These eccentricities may give Tanetomo's foes a false sense of security, but underestimating this Therian's prowess would inevitably be their undoing. Transient from the world of Wa no Kuni. He is a calm strategist and a composed assassin who is seen working for the guild he is a part of, though this is only one facet to him. He's a person with many sides to him, giving eccentric speeches to his surroundings and being famed as a passionate and skillful ritual dancer. These are all components that make up the complex character that is Tanetomo, and those who misread him are prone to meet their doom. Tanetomo specializes in surrendering his leadership, binding the choices of his opponents, and manipulating them into his hands. On a tactical level he gets on well with those who treat him as a charming commmodity. He holds a mix of pity and sympathy for people who get lost in destructive love.

"Tanetomo's Sacred Artifact is a massive Sword with a snowgrass design along the blade. This Sword, as a weapon that has passed through the hands of many now-departed martial artists over many long years, has borne witness to a great deal of misfortune. As such, its Rule sees anyone who'd dare wield it, pointing it at another, succumb to misfortune of their own. Tanetomo is renowned for holding it by its blade and offering the hilt to others, entreating them to deliver a mercy kill. If they should be moved by this pitiable request and take the hilt in hand, however, their fate would be instantly sealed. The irony is that this entreaty is never just a ruse, but representative of a genuine desire to be freed from this plane of existence. There is one toward whom Tanetomo feels familiarity yet cannot tolerate for sharing a similarly ruinous relationship with the concept of love at first sight. There is also another who feels discomfort around Tanetomo for having an extremely contrasting view on the histrionic display of love."

Tanetomo has a long sword Sacred Artifact with snow and bamboo grass patterns on its rim. It has passed through the hands of countless martial artists and is a weapon that holds an unfortunate destiny. It has the power to bring destruction to whoever it is pointed at. Tanetomo holds the edge of this artifact and presents its handle to another, begging them to stab him with it. When one's heart is moved by that pathetic plea and pick up the weapon, their final moments will be sealed. However this confession is always made in earnest, so Tanetomo also puts his own destruction on the line there. In regards to killing someone as a result of love at first sight, something resembling it is the reason why there's someone he cannot abide. Also, he seems to be disliked by someone who has a different opinion when it comes to acting out love.

縁金が雪篠模様にて彩られた、大刀の「神器」。今は亡き数多の武芸者たちの手を渡って来た、数奇なる縁を持つ得物。その「権能」は、その刃を誰かへと向けた者の身に破滅を与える。タネトモはこの「神器」の刃の側を持ち、相手へと柄をそっと差し出し、自分を刺し貫いてくれと乞い願うのだ。その哀切なる願いに心動かされ、得物を手に取った時点で、その者の最期は定められたも同然である。しかし、その告白は常に真剣勝負そのものであり、タネトモもまた、己が身の破滅を賭けてその場に臨んでいる。「一目惚れ」の結果として相手を殺すことの解釈について、似ているが故にどうしても許せない相手が存在するという。また、恋を演ずることについて意見を異にする相手から苦手と思われているそうだ。

Notes

Part of the Eight Dog Warriors (Hakkenshi) in the novel Nansō Satomi Hakkenden, where they are distinguished by their peony shaped birthmark, the emblem of the Satomi clan, and carrying a bead bearing a kanji character that reflects one of the eight fundamental virtues of Confucianism.
- Inuzaka Keno Tanetomo bears the bead with the virtue "chi" (知) meaning wisdom and has his birthmark on his right upper arm.
The sword Tanetomo carries is one of the pair of swords from the Inukawa family, the sword he specifically carries is named Koshino (小篠).
- The other sword is named Ochiba (落葉) that is currently in the possession of Yasuyori.
Tanetomo's appearance looks more feminine which he uses to disguise himself as an unassuming and weak individual belying his actual seemingly cold and manipulative self.
Apart from Tadatomo and Moritaka, who are affiliated with the Agents and the Summoners respectively, the other Hakkenshi are split evenly with the three big guilds in Tokyo. He and Yasuyori are affiliated with the Warmongers. The status of the other four Hakkenshi are currently unknown outside of Masanori who was mentioned to be with the Invaders.
