「ふえぇ、ボク、徹夜明けなんですよぉフェンリル先輩。もうちょっと寝かしてくださぁいっ……！」飢野学園の学生寮で共に生活するフェンリルとジャンバヴァン。２人はギルド・ビーストテイマーズとしての行動を共にするバディの関係にある。そんな彼らのいつもの生活はこんな感じだ。連日の徹夜研究でようやく部屋に帰ってきて布団で寝ている後輩に、散歩の同伴をせがみながら、新しく手に入れたシルバーアクセを見せびらかしにゆくのだと猛る先輩。余人には制御できぬビーストと、それを制御しうるテイマーの組み合わせ。フェンリルは世界を呑み込む定めの野獣であり、それに対応し得る相手として世界の滅亡を止めるジャンバヴァンが猛獣使い役として当てられた。しかしそのはずが、手綱を握る側が毎度、握られる側に振り回されがち。これは組み合わせの失敗なのか？　いいや、そうではない。前述の理由の根幹は、ジャンバヴァンの「役割」と「権能」が「弱っている相手に対して力を振るえない」ことにある。「神器」の縄で縛られて力を振るえないフェンリルよりも、ジャンバヴァンは更に弱いことを強いられるのだ。このペアの真価が現れるのは、フェンリルの拘束が解けた時。世界が本当の危機を迎える時、なのだろう。
