Roppongi Tycoons - The Skyscraper's Ode To Supremacy

Chapter 6: Tycoons - Tower of Tyranny- is the sixth accessible Chapter of the Main Quest, beginning in the Shinjuku and Minato Ward. It consists of ten scenarios, most of which have multiple parts.

In this chapter, the Tycoons, despite their fragmented loyalty, wage war on the other guilds in an attempt to lure out Tsathoggua and use him for their own ends. The Protagonist and the Summoners are caught in the middle as they are drawn into a web of deceit, manipulation, and sabotage among one of the strongest guilds in West Tokyo.

Scenarios

Raid on Roppongi (1) (Shinjuku)

Narration begins, speaking for the thoughts of Ophion. Narration reveals that, in his mind, blood is the deciding factor on who should rule and, after his defeat and exile from Olympus, he strives to become the dominant ruler of Tokyo.

At a safehouse near Shinjuku Station, one of several controlled by the Summoners thanks to their previous business with Claude, the guild, along with Tsathoggua and Hanuman, relaxes for the weekend despite Shiro's attempts to have a normal meeting. Once he gets everyone under control, Shiro informs the guild that, after the fiasco at Tokyo Casino, he did some digging around and found out about the infighting among the Tycoons' hierarchy, with Ophion and Lucifuge in charge of one faction and the other headed by Tsathoggua and Hakumen. With Hakumen currently missing and Tsathoggua now in their custody, Ophion and Lucifuge, despite the existence of an unknown guild master, now stand as the de facto leaders of the Tycoons. Tsathoggua then steps forward to fill in some details: the Tycoons are merely an alliance of top authority figures in Roppongi that assign rankings based on social standing within the guilds forces, with their guild master being no more than a figurehead needed to allow their guild to exist. He also provides knowledge on the abilities and personalities of Ophion and Lucifuge, including an attempt by Ophion to lure him to his side due to his powers not being tethered to the APP's rules, something he claims Shiro can do thanks to his own artifact.

As the guild struggles to come up with a plan to deal with the new threat, Ryota, who briefly left to restock their snacks, warns the guild that they are currently surrounded by attackers Ophion sent to look for Tsathoggua. Tsathoggua insists on teleporting them out, but Shiro, worried that the erratic use of that power might overtax the Old One, resolves to have the guild fight its ways through the limited number of opposition so they can slip by.

Raid on Roppongi (2) (Shinjuku/Roppongi)

Prior to the attack on the Summoners, Ophion, Lucifuge, and the Tycoons guild master, Licht, discuss their plans to take full control of the Shinjuku and Minato wards. However, as Ophion entrusts Lucifuge with dealing with the still weakened Missionaries while hiding his intent to eventually eliminate him from their shared leadership, he actively ignores Licht's attempts to voice his own opinion. Once Ophion leaves his wyverns in charge of protecting the base as he leaves to head the attack, Hakumen's bodyguard, Xolotl, is approached by Licht and his personal maid, Melusine, about tracking down Tsathoggua as a way to find Hakumen. Eager to return to his mistress' side, Xolotl hurries off to perform his job, leaving Licht and Melusine alone to discuss their own plan: the worthless figurehead the rest of the guild see him as is nothing more than a ruse Licht allowed in order for Ophion, Lucifuge, and Hakumen to destroy each other. Having reasoned that Ophion sent Lucifuge, whose toxic 'moondwarves' could eliminate him and any wyverns he creates from his Egg Sacred Artifact, to attack the Missionaries as a way to ensure that Arsalan will weaken him, Licht intends to form an 'alliance' with the weaker guilds in order to usurp control out from under both of them once they've spread themselves too thin.

Cut to Shinjuku. Even though the Summoners manage to escape the safehouse, it soon becomes clear that most of the Tycoons' forces were sent to grab Tsathoggua, forcing them to constantly teleport out of danger. However, Tsathoggua eventually reaches his limit, leading them to become surrounded. Trapped and with Shiro struggling to come up with a way out, Kengo, Ryota, and Hanuman fight off their attackers while the Protagonist stands guard over Tsathoggua.

Raid on Roppongi (3) (Shinjuku)

As the Tycoons' invasion of Shinjuku progresses, Barguest is tasked with spearheading sending the captured guilds to Ophion. However, he is visibly anxious about the job due to the vast amount of guilds in the area, in particular a specific group from Kabukicho, yet he forces himself through it so he can provide for Kenta. Meanwhile, Kirito overhears several gangsters discussing Ophion's true motivations for the attack and intends to sell off this information, though he's annoyed that the Protagonist is once again connected to his plans.

Cut to Alley. As the gangsters wound and capture guilds off the street, the Summoners are hiding out so that Tsathoggua can rest up. As they process the scope of the chaos the Tycoons are causing, they realize they might be able to use their divided focus to escape.

Break Through (1) (Shinjuku/Roppongi)

As Hanuman relays what he learned to the group at a safer vantage point, Xolotl arrives at Shinjuku to search for Tsathoggua. However, he accidentally blabs his intentions to some of Ophion's men, causing them to frantically yell out instructions. This exchange draws the attention of Tetsuya, who, after digging out a bullet one of the gangsters shot in his shoulder, attacks them along with Marchosias and Ibaraki for messing with his guild.

Cut to Hills Tower. As Xolotl calls Licht and fills him in on what he's seeing, Licht realizes that Ophion, despite being in charge, didn't fill his men in on his intentions and intends to use this to his advantage. He passes a message to Melusine instructing her to arrange a meeting with the Protagonist so he can get them on his side.

Cut to alley. With the information gathered by Hanuman and Tsathoggua still out of commission, Shiro tells the guild that they have to reach Kabukicho 1-Chome while avoiding contact with any of the guilds the Tycoons are attacking. This causes some worry in Kengo as he reveals that Kabukicho is Outlaws territory. When the group heads out of where they're hiding, they bump into Alice being attacked by gangsters, causing the Protagonist and Hanuman, despite Shiro's protestations that they're going against their plan, to intercede and save her.

Break Through (3) (Shinjuku West Gate)

At a safe vantage point, Shiro discusses the mess the group is in, mentioning the 'chaos' the Tycoons are in at Kabukicho. Kengo tells him this is likely due to them coming into contact with the Outlaws, a guild operating out of the area that attack anyone who muscles in on their turf. At that point, Hanuman, having been won over when the Protagonist saved Alice's life, interrupts in order to express his desire to join the Summoners. Once the formalities are out of the way, Shiro, despite Kengo's anger, decides that the guild will head through Outlaws' territory as part of a plan, sending Hanuman ahead to scout out any weaknesses in the Tycoons' ranks and the others make their way toward Kabukicho.

Kabukicho Combat (1) (West Shinjuku/Kabukicho)

As the Summoners fight their way through Shinjuku, Jambavan is looking for Alice, having been separated from her in the chaos. Cutting his way through enemies thanks to his Sacred Artifact's ability to scale him to anyone deemed a significant threat, he runs into someone he thinks is her. However, once he's drugged into unconsciousness, 'she' reveals himself to be Ose, a member of the Agents guild hired by Ophion to weed out any members of the Game Masters. Leaving Jambavan to the gangsters that were chasing him, Ose reverts to a 'young' disguise in order to pursue his next target, having surmise that the Tycoons' attack and Jambavan's 'failure' will force them to alter their strategy.

Cut to gate. Despite several gangsters attempting to subdue him, Tetsuya is able to rapidly heal and cut them down. However, before he can rejoin the rest of the Outlaws, he is intercepted by Tadatomo, another member of the Agents. Having had enough time to scout out the healing power of Tetsuya's Knife Sacred Artifact, Tadatomo uses his own Sacred Artifact, a scroll with the power to return life to the recently dead, in order to overtax it and subdue him.

Cut to alley. As several Agents members are smoking out any APP user they find, they are cut down by Marchosias, who is annoyed that they are endangering Kabukicho and the child he's guarding. As they make their way through the back alleys, they are approached by Ibaraki, though they are quickly separated when a new batch of enemies attack. Ibaraki tries to fight them off, but can only barely stall them enough for the Summoners to intervene. After exchanging pleasantries, Ibaraki realizes that the current situation makes it impossible for him to stick to principles and forms an alliance with them to get rid of the Tycoons' foot soldiers.

Kabukicho Combat (2) (Golden Gai)

As the fighting carries on, Melusine manages to slip into Kabukicho. Receiving a call from Licht, she informs him that she has located the Protagonist, but is unable to make a move on them due to the chaos in the area.

Cut to Golden Gai. As the Summoners continue to fight off the waves of gangsters chasing them, Ibaraki appears to bail on them. Luckily, Kengo and the Protagonist are able to pull off an ambush on the enemy forces without his help to thin the heard, but are still being pressed by their numbers.

Cut to back alleys. As a squad of gangsters struggles to deal with their mission slowly beginning to unravel, they receive a report of the battle the Protagonist is caught up in. Realizing this is his best chance to locate Hakumen, Xolotl slips away from them to begin his own search for them.

Cut to Golden Gai. After fighting off the last of the gangsters, the Summoners rest up and prepare their next move. However, they are quickly intercepted by Xolotl, who believes the Summoners kidnapped Tsathoggua for their own ends. Making matters worse, Kirito shows up and incapacitates Hanuman before he can intervene. Fortunately, Ibaraki activates his Sacred Artifact to help even things out, though he naively believes his transformation into a woman has completely fooled everyone.

Kabukicho Combat (3) (West Shinjuku)

Narration begins, explaining that, before the Gates opened up in Tokyo, transient sightings were extremely rare. Narration reveals that an ogre used a collision of worlds to cross into Tokyo from the Land of Wa, and, after forming connections with those in power, established a clan with the intent of protecting the city. However, after several centuries, the clan's ability to perform this duty had begun to falter, leaving the ogre's last living heir, Toji, the only one capable of fulfilling this duty.

As the chaos of the Tycoons' attack continues, Toji is trying to take stock of what he can do. Before he can come to a consensus, he sees Alice being harassed by Ose, who's trying to capture her on Ophion's behalf by threatening to unleash an Exception event should her Sacred Artifact's power interfere. However, Toji interferes when his squad of gangsters get restless. Ose applauds Toji's performance before bashing him for his hypocritical stance on Transients when he's half Transient himself and leaving. Alice, grateful that Toji interceded when he did, strong-arms him into being her bodyguard until she finds Jambavan, stating that, as a Game Master, her duty to make sure the game continues in its controlled state supersedes his desire to end it.

Laws of the Lawless (1) (Kabukicho/Shinjuku)

Narration begins, detailing the establishment of Tokyo's walled state. Narration reveals that, after the Transient Gates first opened and the Walls were first established, those who refused to adapt to Tokyo's shifting hierarchy were cast out to fend for themselves. Eventually, these outcasts banded together to form the Outlaws, claiming Kabukicho as their turf and instituting a strict set of rules as to how they act.

In an abandoned alley, a group of ninjas led by Kotaro set up a plan to cause an explosion to flush out the remainder of the Outlaws. However, before they can execute their plan, a mysterious entity, whom the Outlaws refer to as the 'King of Night', activates their Sacred Artifact and shrouds them in darkness, causing Kotaro to call for a hasty retreat.

Cut to gate. As the fighting in Kabukicho continues, Tetsuya struggles against Tadatomo as he continues to bring back to gangsters Tetsuya strikes down. The Outlaws enforcer chastises Tadatomo for his callous disregard of his subordinates' lives, but the ninja brushes it off, claiming that the gangsters, and his loyalty to Ophion, are no more than a means for him to prepare to exact revenge on the one who murdered his lord. However, just when he thinks he has Tetsuya cornered, Tetsuya reveal he walked right into his trap. Now flanked by Tetsuox and Suzuka, the group takes down the gangsters Tadatomo resurrected, but before they can deal with the ninja, Kotaro, aided by his flame serpent Orochimaru, pull him out of the mess, much to his annoyance. With the immediate threat taken care of, Tetsuya's group heads out in search of Ibaraki, whom Suzuka accurately assumes is actively avoiding her messages due to the belief that his normal form and the form his Sacred Artifact turns him into are two different people.

While still in his female disguise, Ibaraki manages to subdue Xolotl, but bails to get back in his normal form when he starts slipping from the script. However, before the Summoners can explain why they're there, Tetsuya and the others show up and are immediately suspicious of their intentions, even after Ibaraki explains what happened, causing Kengo, who already has a prior history with Tetsuya, to step in to try and play peacemaker. After pleasantries are dispensed and Shiro explains why they wound up in the Outlaws territory, he offers the Summoners aid in dealing with the chaos, but when Tetsuya offhandedly states that he's just as soon hand them over to the Tycoons, the Protagonist snipes back, causing Tetsuya to challenge them to prove that their guild is as tough as they say they are.

  • It is important to know that Tetsuya possesses in this quest a skill (likely Gambler) that grants him Crit++ATK Up by 3x ~ 6x for 1 turn (Buff) when attacking; be mindful that it can easily wipe your units in range if you get unlucky especially during phase 2. If possible, attempt to keep him away from the middle cell so you can easily abuse AI behavior or patch up your units before moving back up.

Laws of the Lawless (3) (Kabukicho/Shinjuku)

As Tetsuya and the Protagonist commence with their duel, Kotaro and Tadatomo reach an area to rest. However, Tadatomo is still upset over Kotaro's interference, calling him out for messing with his plans when he, as a fellow Agents member, had his own mission to attend to. Kotaro, however, is unfazed, and states that, since the Outlaws have already captured several ninjas in his command, he needed the extra support to carry out his mission. Tadatomo doesn't buy it though and, since he already knows the boy ninja has been using the memories stored in his Sacred Artifact to supplement his skills, claims he can handle it on his own. Kotaro placates the situation, stating that, even with five generations of his clan's history in his mind, he's already reached his limit, but he leaves Tadatomo reeling by claiming someone has attempted to store more memories in their mind.

Cut to Golden Gai. Despite Tetsuya's rep as a bruiser, he finds that he's unable to keep the Protagonist down. Deciding he's seen what he needs to see, he ends the duel and agrees to house them and their friends in one of the Outlaws' safe-houses until they recover. However, this proves to be a ruse as Tetsuya traps the others inside and demands that the Protagonist, as the Summoners Guild Master, gets in contact with the Tycoons and make them stop muscling in on their turf, threatening direct harm on their friends if they don't comply.

Cut to vantage point. As Kotaro and Tadatomo recover, Kotaro explains that one of the stronger guilds is likely to try and cut a deal with the Tycoons, a fact he claims is impossible due to the gangsters (and, by extension, Ophion's) stubbornness, but figures that would be the bust chance for both of them to escape. However, Tadatomo doesn't like the plan since it goes against orders, and, despite Kotaro's objections, leaves to deal with the matter on his own terms.

Cut to alley. As the Protagonist struggles to find a through the sea of Tycoon gangsters, they run into Tadatomo, who is attempting to escalate the situation. Having been caught trying to sacrifice Ophion's underlings, Tadatomo attacks them, intending to ensure their silence.

Securing the Road to Minato Ward (1) (Kabukicho/Shinjuku)

Narration begins, showing Tadatomo's life. Narration reveals that, before arriving in Tokyo, Tadatomo was trained by his father, a notable samurai, and taught to value loyalty above all else. However, when his father and the lord they served were brutally murdered, Tadatomo swore revenge. Following the culprit to Tokyo, he forsook his samurai past, becoming a ninja willing to sink to any low necessary to obtain the funds and information necessary to track them down. Yet deep down, his one true desire is to find a lord deserving of his services and protect them with his life.

Despite the intensity of Tadatomo's attacks, the Protagonist refuses to go down. However, just as the ninja manages to capture them, a birthmark on his shoulder erupts in pain, causing him to lose strength. Not wanting to see him suffer, the Protagonist strikes the birthmark with their sword, causing a glowing orb to exit the wound and envelope both parties in light. Taking this as a sign that he's found the one person he was meant to serve but unable to grasp what is happening, Tadatomo's hesitance allows several of Kotaro's subordinates to arrive, claiming they were sent to take over his job, causing the ninja to impulsively strike them down in defense of the Protagonist. This draws the attention of Kotaro, who claims that the memories of his Scroll Sacred Artifact are overriding his mind. However, he also claims that Tadatomo's attack on his subordinates is tantamount to treason, and as such has caused him to forfeit his spot amongst the Agents. The Protagonist, however, attempts to intervene, but when Kotaro threatens physical harm on them, Tadatomo attacks him, intending to die in service of his new master. He launches both of them into the sky with his Sacred Artifact, with the Protagonist chasing after them.

Cut to Kabukicho street. As Toji and Alice make their way through the chaos, they notice Tadatomo's actions. Correctly assuming that the Protagonist is somehow in the middle of this, they both head to the Golden Gai in order to contain it.

However, Kotaro uses his Sacred Artifact to create clones of himself, allowing the original to slip out before the explosion. Back on the ground, Kotaro thanks Ose, who was conveniently passing by while on his own mission, for lending his aid. However, Ose immediately cashes in on the debt he feels Kotaro owes him when Acile and Toji appear.

Meanwhile, as Tadatomo plummets to the ground following the explosion, the Protagonist uses the nearly ninja as a springboard to save him while Toji mops up afterwards. Once he's on the ground, they confront Kotaro and Ose, the later of whom refers to the Protagonist in the same name Zabaniyya had called them before disappearing. As Kotaro subdues Toji, who is incensed that the ninja would consciously inherit the memories of another, Kotaro claims the Protagonist's memory loss is the result of mental overload, but Toji cuts him off, thinking it's nothing more than a trick meant to distract them. Before they can get any real information from them, Kotaro gets a call demanding that he and Ose return to the Tycoons' Portal, with Ose inviting the Protagonist to follow them if they wish to know more. Alice threatens to erase their access to the App, but Ose sees right through the bluff and escapes with Tadatomo's motionless body while the remaining gangsters attempt to bring them in

Cut to Hills Tower. After disposing of Tadatomo, Kotaro asks Ose what the nature of his mission was. The spy reveals he was tasked by Ophion to lure a Game Master to him, but discovered they needed an App user with high priority clearance from the Game Masters for his plans to have any real meaning. He suspects that user might be the Protagonist due to the fact that the Game Masters are trying to keep something hidden from them. However, they can't go into any major details as Kotaro reveals they were called back because someone was directly attacking the guild.

Securing the Road to Minato Ward (3) (Kabukicho/Shinjuku/?)

As the Protagonist struggles to make their way through the chaos, Ophion looks down on everything from the top of Hills Tower, the bastion of Tycoons HQ. As he curses the Game Masters for trying to limit his power, he is caught off guard when the tower shudders from an explosion. Demanding answers, the old dragon is stunned to learn that the Tycoons themselves have come under attack.

Cut to Kabukicho streets. As the sudden attack on the Tycoons commences, the Protagonist, Toji, and Alice are taking down the gangsters surrounding them. Once they subdue them and escape to a stable area, they are approached by Melusine, who extends the meeting invitation Licht intended for the Protagonist. Despite Toji's annoyance that a subsection of the group responsible for the chaos is trying too get in contact with them, he relents to following her in the interest of ending the Tycoons' invasion at the source. As she prepares to lead them to Hills Tower, she receives a cill from Licht, who informs her of the attack.

Cut to Outlaws safe-house. While the Protagonist prepares to head to Hills Tower, the rest of the Summoners have become restless waiting the the Safe-house for something to happen. As Kengo begins to vent out his frustrations, his actions scare Xolotl, whom the group forgot had been locked up with them. After filling the group in on his stance on the Tycoons' recent actions, Xolotl is informed by Tsathoggua that he never had any knowledge of Hakumen's location. Trying to determine how she could have escaped, Tsathoggua suddenly remembers overhearing a conversation Hakumen had with Babalon about another Transient from the World of the Old Ones being part of another guild Babalon had been frequenting.

Cut to Hills Tower. As the attack on the Tycoons' base continues, mysterious shadows under the apparent control of Hakumen enter the building. The Vixen thanks Babylon for supplying her the enforcers necessary for her to get revenge on Ophion for kicking her out of the Tycoons, though she's aware that this 'alliance' is merely an excuse for her to accomplish her own agenda. After parting ways, Babalon makes a call to Kirito, a supposed member of her guild, to get the Outlaws to focus all their attention on the Tycoons.

A Town Named Betrayal (1) (Roppongi 7-Chome)

Narration begins, providing Licht's backstory. Narration reveals that, even though he's runs the Tycoons as the guild master, the majority of guild's hierarchy don't notice him or even acknowledge that he even exists. Annoyed at their indifference toward him, Licht allowed them to elect him as guild master as part of his plan to usurp full control of the guild from them.

As Hakumen's Shadows continue to breach the interior of the Tycoons' base, several low ranking barons in the guild are forced to take shelter with Licht. Licht suggests they hide until the situation is resolved, but the barons overlook his authority and attack the Shadows, with each getting picked off one by one. With Licht the last survivor of the group, the Tycoons' guild master reveals his trump card: he needed the barons to be taken out so he could use his own Sacred Artifact to hijack theirs. After boasting his way through the Shadows, he is contacted by Melusine. He assures his assistant that he's all right, but has to delay his plans and instructs her to stall the Protagonist and their allies long enough to be able to escape from the attack undetected.

Outside the towers, Toji becomes annoyed at the delay. Assuming Licht's meeting is nothing more than a trap, Toji leaves to do some spying and Alice leaves to go speak with someone, leaving Melusine and the Protagonist on their own. With nothing else to do, Melusine leads the Protagonist to the shelter of a nearby art museum, revealing that Licht is a skilled painter in his own right, but years of neglect from the Tycoons have caused him to doubt his own abilities. She then reveals a bit about herself: after losing sight of herself back in her homeworld, she became self-conscious of other people's opinions of her upon arriving in Tokyo. After Licht's words left a mark on her, she decided to serve him, but has since become scared of his change in personality. She then takes the Protagonist to a painting Licht has loaned to the museum.

Back at the Tycoons' base, Licht revels in knowing his manipulation of Ophion, Hakumen, and Lucifuge's egos has allowed him to gain control of the guild, with the tower Ophion constructed as a localized Battle Zone in his hubris set to serve as a mass grave for their followers. However, knowing that Ophion will likely make sure he's the last one standing, he needs to align himself with the Protagonist and their guild in order to mop up should he survive.

A Town Named Betrayal (2) (Roppongi 7-Chome)

While Ophion was leading the attack on Shinjuku, Lucifuge has engaged the Missionaries in battle just as Ophion requested him to do. But, to his surprise, the Moondwarves he summons from his Sacred Artifact are having trouble taking hold due to Arsalan's holy oil crippling them. Fortunately, he is forced to withdraw upon learning of Hakumen's assault in order to protect his 'friend', much to Arsalan's confusion.

Cut to Hills Tower. Having managed to escape, Licht receives a phone call informing him of Lucifuge's imminent return. Instructing the person on the other end to 'be as convincing as possible' when relaying this information to Ophioin, he gloats about being about to takes the three leaders of the Tycoons out without arousing suspicion onto himself. However, his moment is cut off by Kuniyoshi, a fellow art student at the museum Melusine and the Protagonist are currently at. Confused as to why he's been avoiding classes lately, Kuniyoshi tries to ask Licht what he's been up to, but he quickly deflects the question to why he's outside Hills Tower when he should be at an awards ceremony on the other side of Roppongi, to which Kuniyoshi responds he decided to no show upon being struck with inspiration. Once they separate, Licht goes to enact his designs for the Protagonist: with a simple phone call, Licht sets a trap for them, during which he intends to inconspicuously aid in their escape and manipulate them into becoming his tool as a means of repaying their debt to him, though he's confused as to why Melusine decided to position them at the art museum.

Cut to museum. As they wait for Licht to arrive, Melusine and the Protagonist discuss his paintings. The Protagonist finds themselves impressed with the works, in particular an unspecified piece they claim 'speaks to them'. However, they are interrupted by several gangsters part of the plot to attack them. However, before they can make a move on their target, Licht, who had arrived earlier and was moved by the Protagonist's genuine respect for his art, impulsively intercedes and attacks them, unwittingly marking himself as a traitor to his own guild.

A Town Named Betrayal (3) (Roppongi 7-Chome-?)

During Licht's 'betrayal' of the Tycoons, Alice runs into her contact: Entertainers member Christine. Alice demands that the Entertainers stop interfering in the APP's progression, but Christine refuses, claiming it's her duty to do everything she can to make sure the APP is as lively as possible, though she promises not to involve herself with the mess going on with the Tycoons. Their conversation ends when the effects of the museum attack reach them, forcing Alice to leave in order to protect her 'Red Knight'. As soon as Alice leaves, a mysterious Transient appears before Christine, chastising her for not warning the Game Master about '[their] arrival', though Christine merely states she is honoring Alice's request.

Cut to museum. As the gangsters back Licht, Melusine, and the Protagonist into a corner, Licht's control over the Sacred Artifacts he pilfered has become diminished, forcing Melusine to employ her Sacred Artifact's arsenal to cover for him. Luckily, Toji and Alice provide timely assistance, allowing the group to escape to a Tycoons safe-house only Licht and Melusine know about. As they struggle to piece together how they got into this situation, Licht reveals that, now that his plan has unraveled due to his premature betrayal, Ophion, thanks to his Egg Sacred Artifact's ability to spawn his own Olympus based army, is now in a position to claim full control of the Tycoons without any legitimate opposition. With time working against them, Licht is forced to restructure his plan so that he now acts to prevent Ophion from completing his mad plan. As the group prepares for their assault on the Tycoons' base, the Protagonist, having come to feel sorry for Licht being alone for so long, offers their hand in friendship, to which Licht hesitantly accepts. He then tries to release Melusine from the servitude he manipulated her into, but Melusine consciously chooses to remain by his side and protect him.

Cut to Hills Tower. Having managed to reach the Tycoons base undetected, the group prepare their assault on the tower. Assuming Ophion is at the top due to his superiority complex, Licht intends to use the chaos Hakumen's attack caused to slip in and complete their individual objectives. However, they are quickly intercepted by Hakumen's forces, which Alice recognize as Shadows, beings of negative emotions cast out from the world. Left with no other choice, the group is forced to fight through the initial guard just to make it into the building.

The Day Past Meets Present (1) (Shinjuku/Roppongi)

As the Protagonist's group struggles to make its way into Hills Tower, Hakumen has already made it to the top, taking out the last of the soldiers still loyal to Ophion. However, Ophion is unfazed by this development and, uninterested in doing the fighting himself, quickly supplements his ranks with Wyverns summoned from his Sacred Artifact, which quickly attack the Shadows flanking Hakumen, inciting a brawl. During the fighting, Ophion asks Hakumen why she insisted on attacking him when she knows she outclassed, to which he responds that it's merely retaliation for the destruction of Tokyo Casino, which she had built for the person she figures will be her eventual lord.

Cut to Kabukicho. While Ophion and Hakumen come to blows, Tetsuya, after clearing out nearby Tycoons forces, ducks into an alley in order to meet with Kirito. After learning of the Tycoons interest in Tsathoggua,Tetsuya, though unnerved by the fact that he knows that Kirito is a 'triple agent', considers handing him and the rest of the Summoners over to them, but, due to the injuries sustained during the fighting, is content with waiting for the Protagonist's 'negotiations' to commence before making any decisions. He then makes his way back to where Tetsuox was guarding the Summoners in order to confirm the information, only to discover, to his horror, that they, along with the others that were locked up with them, have disappeared without a trace. Frustrated that his leverage over the Protagonist has vanished, Tetsuya frantically begins searching for any trace of them. Meanwhile, the Summoners, thanks to Shiro's now rudimentary grasp on how the Old Ones teleportation works, make their way through Kabukicho's back alleys, though Xolotl is unsure why they're letting him tag along when they know he's part of the group that started the fiasco in the first place. After agreeing to help out in Xolotl's search for Hakumen, Shiro, despite having wiped himself out from a single teleportation, reveals he allowed the Outlaws to capture them so that he could get the full grasp of what's going on so they could help the Protagonist. Having discerned that their guild master has already made their way to the Tycoons' base thanks to the D-Evils, Shiro prepares to enact his plan, but he passes out right as Tetsuya and Tetsuox catch up with them, forcing them to run while Hanuman covers their escape.

As the attack on Hills Tower continues, the gangsters under the Tycoons control have a hard time grasping the appearances of the Shadows, allowing the Shadows to take them out. Meanwhile, having managed to slip into the tower, the Protagonist's group observe this Shadows' attacks. Licht notes that the Shadows, thought humanoid in appearance, are motivated purely by hatred and seem to know exactly how the Tycoons operate. Forced to fight their way through, the group ducks into an open conference room to recover. Realizing the Shadows' appearance has thrown the 'game' out of whack, Alice reveals that the Shadows are nothing more than memories that have been deemed useless and discarded from Tokyo. Surmising the black stones they each have are connected to the world of the Old Ones, Licht assumes someone from that world is backing Hakumen's attack, but can't make any sense why as he feels there's a bit of information missing from Alice's statement. However, the group's cover is blown when Lucifuge's Moondwarves catch up with them, and the demon immediately sends them to incapacitate the group. Alice is quickly subdued when she tries to use her Sacred Artifact on him, forcing Melusine and Toji to hold him off long enough for the others to retreat. However, anticipating their plans, Lucifuge uses a Moondwarf body double of himself to incapacitate Toji and cripple Melusine, forcing her to pass her arsenal to Licht when Lucifuge catches up to him and the Protagonist. However, Lucifuge becomes distracted by the Protagonist's appearance, leaving him open to their attack.

The Day Past Meets Present (3) (Roppongi Guild HQ)

Narration begins, speaking Ophion's thoughts. Narration reveals that, a long time ago, the golden dragon declared he would take Tokyo as his own, but no longer remembers his reasoning for why and has come to the conclusion that it's nothing more than a formality.

As Toji attempts to resuscitate the unconscious Melusine, the Protagonist cuts through the Moondwarves Lucifuge has produced and incapacitates him. They demand that the Tycoons leader end his attack on the group, and, surprisingly, he capitulates immediately, quickly pulling the remaining pathogens back to him. Lucifuge apologizes to the Protagonist for his actions, but the Protagonist and the others are thrown for a loop when he refers to them as his former boss, Shaytan. As Toji tends to Alice, the Protagonist requests that Tadatomo be released from the Tycoons' custody, which Lucifuge quickly agrees to.

Upon arriving at Hills Tower's holding area, Lucifuge demands that Kotaro hand Tadatomo over to them. The young ninja is initially resistant, but is forced to go through with it when Lucifuge threatens legal action against the Agents. Kotaro then turns on the Protagonist, furious at them for finding a way to override Ophion's orders and embarrassed that they stuck it to them after he beat them earlier, a fact that Toji enjoys. However, Tadatomo, still suffering from his earlier injuries and shocked that the Protagonist went out of their way to rescue him, passes out upon the group's arrival, and Jambavan is no longer there, having been moved to a location closer to Ophion by Ose. Alice demands that Kotaro lead her to Ophion, which he does while being forced to carry the unconscious Tadatomo.

Winner Takes All (1) (Roppongi Guild HQ)

As the group makes their way toward Ophion, Toji demands that Alice reveal what she knows about the Protagonist, having discerned that she knew more than she was letting on due to her nonchalance when Lucifuge and Tadatomo both saw two different people within them, a fact that Licht agrees with, stating that, as a Game Master, she should feel that any situation that puts an APP user at an unfair disadvantage should be wrong to her. With no way to back out, Alice reveals the truth about the Protagonist's memory loss: both the Protagonist and their Sacred Artifact are comprised of the souls, fragments, and memories of 24 individuals from Tokyo and the worlds connected to it, each with a variation of the Rending Rule that forms Boundless Tail's power. However, the Protagonist's mind couldn't handle the strain of having so many memories and Rule variations forced upon it, resulting in their memory loss. However, Alice doesn't know too much beyond that, as she was merely tasked with making sure no one found out too much about the full extent of the Protagonist's power, though she relents that it's okay for them to disclose this amongst the Summoners. As Toji apologizes to the Protagonist for being too hard on them given their circumstances, Licht and Melusine discuss the full scope of the Protagonist's predicament. Melusine believes that their soul fragments could easily give them sway over followers the fragments had behind them, but Licht shoots it down on the basis that, due to the fact that the soul fragments they're composed of were 'exiled' from their worlds, they're just as likely to run into the people who cast each of them out in the first place, which leads him to believe that there's no possibility for the Protagonist to win.

Cut to top level. As the Protagonist's group makes their way to the top level, Ophion has worn down Hakumen's strength with the sheer number of numbers his Sacred Artifact has spawned. However, the golden dragon is concerned that Lucifuge won't reach him in time for Hakumen to deal with him. Fortunately, Lucifuge manages to show up with the others, much to Ophion's shock. Lucifuge requests that Ophion end the chaos the Tycoons have caused, stating that, although he is grateful that Ophion took his desires into consideration, he no longer feels the need to go along with them due to the Protagonist's arrival. Hakumen, confused as to what is happening, falls right into the Protagonist's arms, leading her to believe they are the one she was destined to love, leading Lucifuge to rightly calls Hakumen out for trying to court someone who is way too young and Licht to marvel at how the Protagonist's 'true charisma' quickly got Hakumen on their side. The moment is ruined, however, when Ophion bursts into an angry tirade over his carefully constructed plans falling apart at the worst possible time and blaming the Protagonist for interfering with his plans. Sensing that Ophion is slipping beyond reason, Lucifuge steps in to protect the Protagonist as Ophion creates a fresh wave of minions to attack the group.

Winner Takes All (2) (Roppongi Guild HQ)

Narration begins, explaining Ophion's thoughts. Narration reveals that, during the fight, he remembers why he wants to conquer Tokyo in the first place: it was to retaliate against Olympus for casting aside his wife Eurynome. However, no longer content with conquering both worlds, he intends to control all 24 in an attempt to bring her back to him.

As Ophioin continues to indiscriminately summon reinforcements from his Sacred Artifact, the Protagonist's group slowly begins to lose ground, forcing Kotaro to defect to their side in order to save himself. Toji, however, is unfazed by this as his katanas, in which contain the Rule of Eradication, easily cut through the advancing forces. Realizing he needs to summon a more powerful entity in order to prevent Toji from reaching him, Ophion uses his Sacred Artifact to create a younger version of himself, who proceeds to swiftly incapacitate the group. However, to Ophion's stunned confusion, 'young' Ophion embraces the Protagonist, claiming they are his long lost spouse, giving Toji the opening he needed to strike Ophion's Sacred Artifact. Unfortunately, all it succeeds in doing is create an Exception event that brings forth Yukimura and transforms Ophion into a micro-Exception, much to Toji's shock and confusion. Alice and the Protagonist quickly realize that, though Toji's actions were sound, the Exception event occurred because of a conundrum loop occurring due to his Rule having no clear idea what it was supposed to target. As Toji struggles to process the mess he unwittingly caused, Exception-Ophion bursts through the roof of Hills tower, effectively closing the localized Battle Zone, and begins spawning Olymps into Tokyo at an alarming rate.

As Alice leads Toji away, the rest of the group attempts to repel the Olymps spewing into the tower, but find they don't have they don't have the power necessary to deal with the sheer numbers. Fortunately, 'young' Ophion, still sane and determined to protect the Protagonist in order to prove his love to them, intervenes and drives off the rabid Olymps. The Protagonist tries to explain that they aren't the person he thinks they are, but he downplays it, dismissing any superficial changes as trivial concerns before turning his focus back toward the Olymps so he can convince the Protagonist that his feeling for them are genuine.

For this quest the player is able to select a NPC support Ophion (level 60, skill level 50) to gain 100 Ally Point

Winner Takes All (3) (The Skies Above Roppongi)

As Exception-Ophion continues to threaten Tokyo with an increasing army of Olympus, 'young' Ophion' attempts to subdue them while the others look on. As the remaining Tycoons struggle to come up with a plan to deal with their ally as well as Yukimura, the Protagonist gets Toji to come to terms with the situation. Meanwhile, Alice continues her search for Jambavan alone, eventually following Ose into an abandoned room where she finds him restrained. Upon releasing him and getting him up to speed on the situation, they make their leave to consult the Tower of Babel on how best to deal with the situation.

As the Rabid Olymps begin to multiply faster than 'young' Ophion' can deal with them, they began to mass at the tower and engulf the Protagonist, despite Hakumen and Lucifuge's attempts to protect them. Fortunately, the rest of the Summoners arrive in time to force them away, though Shiro is resting at another location after wearing himself out trying to access the full scope of his Sacred Artifact's power. After passaging a message from Shiro stating that Ophion's true motivation for capturing Tsathoggua was motivated by fear that his teleporting powers threatened the security of his plans, the Old One offers to warp him toward Exception-Ophion, but 'young' Ophion' counters that he's the only one who can keep them airborne long enough to deal with the problem. Once in the sky, 'young' Ophion realizes that his older self has become too unstable from the influx of power and must be put down, though only the Protagonist's Sacred Artifact has the power to properly do so.

For the Future (1) (The Skies Above Roppongi)

Having broken through the rabid Olymps, the Protagonist lands a heavy blow on Exception-Ophion, returning him to normal and unsealing the memories of his time with Eurynome. As the touch down on Hills Tower, both Ophions realize their time in Tokyo is up. As he begins to fade away, Ophion warns the Protagonist that the people who exiled each of the souls contained within them and makes his younger self promise to remain by their side should they call on his services again before both dragons disappear.

For the Future (2) (Roppongi Area)

With Ophion's rampage taken care of, the Summoners and Tycoons turn their attention toward Yukimura, who escaped into Tokyo during the confusion and is currently rampaging on its own. As Ryota heals the Protagonist's injuries from their fight with Ophion, Alice and Jambavan chase after the Exception, with Jambavan's Sacred Artifact scaling him to its unnatural speed. After catching up and relaying the necessary information to the Tower of Babel, the pull back to let the 'players responsible' deal with fixing it, though they are unaware of Ophion's departure. However, this buys Yukimura enough time to reach its destination: a ley line in Minato Ward that it uses to summon the spirits of departed Oni. Once Tsathoggua delivers Toji to the group, Alice reveals that, because the Protagonist's Sacred Artifact has a Rule variant similar to Toji's, they must establish a hierarchy where their Rule is placed above his in order to siphon of the Edadication Rule's excess power. As Toji and the Protagonist make their way toward Yukimori, the remaining Tycoons, Hanuman, Kotaro, and Tadatomo eliminate the Oni spirits in the path, giving them a straight shot to the Exception.

For the Future (3) (Roppongi Area)

Narration begins, expanding on Toji's life. Narration reveals that Toji is regularly haunted by the memories of the original bearers of the Katanas every time he sleeps.

With their path to the Exception relatively clear, Toji and the Protagonist make their way toward it, with Kotaro and Tadatomo bringing up the rear to dispatch any stragglers. However, Toji begins to wear down due to the Oni taking a particularly violent interest in him, forcing the Protagonist to cover for him. Toji reveals that the spirits appearing now are the remnants of the more violent Oni that appeared long before the Gates first opened. With the Exception running rampant, he fears this will cause humanity's long repressed hatred of anything different an excuse to expose itself. The Protagonist, however, disagrees, and Toji is forced to come to terms with the fact that his old-fashioned stubbornness is preventing him from allowing him to accept Transients for what they are before declaring that he will keep a closer eye on them due to the sheer power they possess.

As Dawn Draws Near (Roppongi Area)

After managing to subdue Yukimura, the excess energy from the overloaded Eradication rule begins to flow into the Protagonist's Sacred Artifact. As the Protagonist and Toji prepare to reset the hierarchy, Toji is visibly uncomfortable about what he has to do but is able to force himself through it. Once the APP resets itself and they return outside Hills Tower, Toji, having come to respect the Protagonist and feeling guilty about the role he played in the recent Exception event, asks if he could join their guild, to which the Protagonist immediately accepts. The others then catch up to them and express their relief that they survived, though Kengo relays that Shiro is still too wiped out to thank them in person. The group then splits up to go their separate ways: the remaining Tycoons return to Hills Tower to begin restructuring how their guild is run; Tadatomo wholely accepts the Protagonist as the one he's meant to serve, but requests time off to properly learn how to reign in his emotions; Alice and Jambavan leave early to tend to the matter of erasing them memories of everyone not connected to the APP who were caught up in the chaos; Kotaro attempts to slip away, but is stopped by Ose, who reveals that an incident has taken place in Ikebukuro.

Cut to Ikebukuro Colosseum. As the chaos surrounding the Tycoons' invasion and the Exception dies down, Babalon's motivation for providing Shadow soldiers to Hakumen is revealed: she needed everyone's attention focused on the Tycoons so that her own guild, the Genociders, would be able to eliminate the Berserkers with minimal interference. As Kirito and fellow guild members Surtr and Azathoth look on, Babalon begins the next phase off her plan.
