He created the skies with one of the seashells that he owned, while another served as the earth, thus being the origin of this world. The island was sealed off from the outside thanks to both smooth but sturdy seashells, never allowing intruders inside, but also rejecting any fellowship with the outside world, making this a perfectly closed off island. Therefore those living on this solitary island don’t know about the existence of the outside world or the threat of foreign intruders, and have always led a peaceful life, following Tangaroa’s guidance in communion with nature. Only an octopus would be able to breach through the protective shell with its tentacles, tainting the purity of the island. He hates octopi and feels no sympathy for them. | |||
