As such a legendary figure, countless treasure hunters have set their sights on him. However, dwelling in a cave, he has protected himself by mimicking the alarmed cries of a canary, tricking intruders into fleeing in panic. In Tokyo, he is part of the choir at a church where a stone exorcist serves as a priest. As a resident monk, he handles various chores, including tidying up scattered ceremonial robes. In front of the congregation, he wears a friendly façade and is regarded as adorable. The art museum attached to the chapel is said to be crowded with visitors coming specifically to see him. Upon their first meeting, the great sea giant king initially viewed Carbuncle as a target for his hunt.
